I'm looking for suggestions for wide wheels that are known to fit the 2G (2005 in my case) RL as a simple wheel/tire replacement (not looking to mod my fenders, brakes, etc..). I've got the A-spec 18" wheels now with 245mm tires, but I was looking for a wider setup (mostly for looks and placebo performance, as I haven't exactly been burning rubber as it is).

I've read that 9" wheels will fit all around (I'd prefer to have the same size all around), but I was curious if there were any known 9" or 9+ wheels that fit the 2G RL. Even 8.5" wheel suggestions would be great. Thanks!

I'm not sure if it matters, but I'll likely be installing A-spec suspension on the car before too long.

As far as size, all 9" wheels will fit all around. With the A-Spec suspension, I don't see any hindrance in tire sizes, either. Your going to be fine no matter what wheel you choose. I bet you could even go 10" wide, but it'll look a bit funny with the wheels sticking out all around.

I recall there was someone who put 19x10s on the rears although I think he had rubbing, and 19x8 on the fronts, or something like that.

i seen a cadilac cts with like 12 in wide wheels, and it lookd so stupid like a jeep or something, it just dosnt look right wen ur wheels stick out so far

18x9 with 275/40/18 tires,perfect fit. I think Tirerack have BBS RE 18x9 wheels for RL.

I wasn't looking for 10" that stick out, but 8.5" or 9" seem doable. I found a 9" wheel thread, but am still looking for those particular wheels. The BBS ones look sweet, but I'm looking for less than $500(ish) per wheel (plus extra for tires, tpms, etc...).

Tirerack have BBS RE and one more wheel brand in 18x9 size.

I just discovered that when you switch to the swanky view that shows the wheels on your ride the widths of the wheels are easier to see. Those BBS wheels look tight, but unless they have a buy 1 get 3 free sale, I'll have to go with a cheaper option. The Bremmer Kraft 18x9 don't look half bad:


The 20x9 Real Porto looks a bit too much like an oversized variant of the OEM wheel:

18x9 with 275/40/18 and you don't hit fender when you have two folks in the back? Please confirm. Thanks
PS: Most Wheel calculators will not recommend this set up for RL saying this:

No problems with right offset. I have BBS RE 18x9 +45 offset with 275/40/18 tires (summer set up) and with 3 folks in the back no problems at all.

These 18x9 (ET 45) BBS RE wheels NOW offered by the Tire Rack are NOT the Acura specific wheels they used to carry in 18x8.5 (ET 47) with a 64.1mm center bore and lug nut seats designed to use the original flat washer Honda lug nuts. The new 18x9 (ET 45) BBS RE offered use a centering ring to bring the center bore down from 72.6mm to the Honda 64.1 mm and comes with lug nuts since the stock flat washer will no longer fit. My guess is these 18x9 BBS RE wheels are designed for BMWs and this offering simplifies the TireRack inventory.

I got my information from Porter at TireRack as well as Slawek and checked facts for consistency with the Tire Rack and BBS websites.

Currently, the Tire Rack 19 inch BBS RE offering for the RL is still the Honda specific 19x8.5 (ET 48) with a 64.1 center bore, and uses no centering ring, and stock lug nuts. Note that this is a special order item, meaning they do not stock the wheel as they do the 18 inch wheel.

With a + 45 mm offset, the 18x9 runs 3 mm closer to the suspension and 23 mm more towards the outer edge, but that is with the BBS RE specifically which is built with a lot of room behind the spokes. Other 18x9's may not have the room behind the spokes, witness original the RonJon Legends which were designed as +45, but needed to be modified to +42 in order to accommodate the RL front brake caliper.

Tire Rack, in my experience, is really good, and if they say it fits, it fits. Whoever you chose to buy from them, get the fitment guarantee in writing, of course.

I have a 2007 acura RL, I drive around very rough roads with bumps holes and soo, I wanted to increase the height and width of the tires on the factory 17 inch wheels. What would be the biggest I can go safely??
