Front brake pads 2007 TL Type-S

when changing the front brake pads, how do you remove the two pins from the calipers to get the brake pads out?

You need a punch, (5/32?),center the punch on the side of the pin facing you (the pin needs to exit going towards the body of the vehicle) and lightly tap them out being careful not to damage the calipers. Once, out you can grab a pair of pliers or sometimes just your hand to slide the brake pads out. Clean the pins and hardware with a soft wire brush.

The tricky part, if you're not removing the calipers, is pushing the caliper pistons (all 4) back in once the pads are out.

I used a nail set to knock them loose, but the nail set gradually gets thicker so it wasn't able to get them all the way out with it because it won't go all the way through. I used the largest/longest allen wrench with a rubber mallet to get them all the way out. I'm not a fan of improper use of tools, but I was in a bind so I used this method very carefully. A punch is the way to go.

Make sure you open that bleeder valve when compressing the caliper pistons. Like Andrew said, it's tricky. As you're pushing one of them in, the others will come out lol. I just used my hands to squeeze/push them in and I kept going back and forth while the bleeder was open until the new pads were able to slide into position. I really like the design of these brakes, super easy to pad swap.
