Well I went to replace my pads today because I thought for sure they would be about toast at 38K due to all the posts about the brembos only lasting like 16-30K! To my surprise this is what they looked like! Looks like they are only a bit more then half way done. Oh well I replaced them anyways but damn nothing like I thought they would be.

It's because you have a 6MT. On the autos, the durability leaves a lot to be desired.

Not sure what you mean by that. If you are referring to the 04-06 auto which doesn't have Brembo most people I see here get 100K and more on the stock pads. On the other had most users with the 04-06 Manual or the 07-08 type S manual/auto which come with Brembos only seem to get about 16-30K out of their front pads before they are worn down to the squealers.

I replaced my original pads on my '04 manual at 25,500 miles with an after market set to reduce the dusting. I still have my original pads in my garage and I estimate they would have gone for around 60,000 miles with me.

A next door neighbor has an '05 manual with over 90,000 miles on it and it still has the factory pads. Granted, his car does not see much stop and go traffic, but you have to admit, that's pretty decent from the Brembos.

Ya I was replacing mine mainly for dusting too, what pads are you using?

I have a 2004 6MT with about 63,500 miles or so (I've worked from the home office since late 2008 and so my mileage has dropped off significantly) and I've replaced the pads twice, once at around 28,000 and the second time within the past month or so. In both cases they were quite worn, not quite to the point of the shrieking noise but far enough that I easily felt the reduced effectiveness prior to replacing the pads. There are enough dumbshits on the road around here that I slam on the brakes often enough to have a pretty good sense of wear based on feel alone.

I went with Rotex Gold Kevlar pads. You will see a slight drop in braking efficiency, however unless you are racing the car or tend to really be hard on it, this will not pose any problems for you. Mine have just short of 50,000 miles on them and they have good life left. As for dusting, it dropped between 80 and 90%, or roughly slightly less than what you would see with an automatic TL. And the dust is not black.

Had I left my OEM factory pads on my '04 manual, I would have easily seen over 60,000 miles on them. As I mentioned, I still have those pads in my garage so it is quite simple to see how much material is left on them.

I have around 35k on mine and the last time I looked they still looked decent. I do need to pull a wheel off in the next few weeks to check again since I also was under the impression to expect less than 40k out of each set. Then again, I do not drive my car hard at all and most of my miles are highway these days. Even in rush hour I barely touch my brakes. I usually leave it in a lower gear and stay back from the car in front of me so I don't have to clutch often nor touch my brakes.

need to replace mine... where is a good place to buy pads... i would like to go aftermarket as i have aftermarket wheels and i dont want all the dusting

Most of my miles were highway. It's only when I stopped commuting to work and most/all of my miles became stop-and-go city miles did my brakes start to go fast.

Just changed mine at approx 35K and the pads were shot.

I went to ceramic rotora pads... less dust and so far so good
