Hazard signal switch lights up?

Does your hazard signal switch (red triangle) light up with parking or headlights on?

I took out the center vent piece the other day and accidently dropped it. I don't know if I damaged it or not. The switch itself works though.

Thank you for that picture. Everything but that hazard switch lights up. It's funny how similar thing happened to my old car. The bulb got damaged because I dropped it.

My Hazard Switch doesn't light up either, but it probably should.

A few times I had to reach for the Hazard Button at night and I couldn't find it. I had to turn on the map lights to see the button.

I'm sure the button is supposed to be lit in case of emergency and ease of access.

It's really not that difficult to reach the button in complete darkness... It's located smack dab in the center of your two middle air vents.

I could hit the button with my eyes closed

We're you wearing a baseball mitt? How the hell couldn't you find that?

Mine is off and will stay off - it's an aesthetic anomaly relative to the rest of the interior

hey death metal, i've actually seen ur threads on swapping interior lights and what you did with the interior lighting is absolutely AMAZING. my lights similarly are having the same problem ... specifically the hazard light, heated seats light, climate control lights and steering wheel lights. the issue I'm having though is that its indeterminate ... sometimes they're on, sometimes they're off; I'm wondering are the bulbs damaged , or could it possibly just be the fuse?

Not the fuse, at least I don't suspect as the interior lights are pretty much all or none. It could be a faulty switch or relay as the circuit of which you speak is for the lighting circuit energized when the exterior lights are on. The light switch on your steering stalk would be my first suspect and move from there. Also, check to ensure the fuses are properly seated.

So maybe people with 04 and 05's, theirs light up and maybe 06's doesn't because the passenger airbag indicator was new for 06.

Actually, the 04 was the only year that didn't come with them.

Well now on mine, the letters and the triangle both light up. I had to just push in the module and it's always lit now.

No other way of doing it other than removing center vents.
All I did (as per deathmetals diy) was pull up really hard on the vent assembly.

Can you explain how to do it? I've tried a few times only to scratch the surrounding plastic.

Sounds like I'm going to break something. Do the metal bezels come off?

Okay we figured out the deal. The vent bezel pulls straight back out and you disconnect two harness plugs.

The switch has two tabs that press in and it slides out.

Any tips for removing the vent?

Going to the gym helps :gheylaugh:

There's no "oh you press this clip in so that it comes out" or "move this out of the way to remove it easier".

You just take it out. Hence why easy is dependant on your strength.

Slide it left to right to break it loose. Find somebody with nails and start on the left side. Insert left hand with nails on the top between dash and bezel, the right hand nails dig underneath, near the hazard switch. Pull the left out till it pops out just a bit, then do the same on other side. Pull straight back or you might break tabs on top.

i just got the center vent out to change out the bulb for the hazard button.

you really do have to use a lot of force/strength to get it out, it almost feels/looks like its going to break but the clips eventually give and it comes loose.
