be prepared to get flamed and persuaded at the same time...

That being said I say do it ( even 50% would look good on wdp ). I have 30% and I dont have any problems driving at night. Had it on my vehicles the past 10 years. Have extra money put aside for the tickets lol.

If your windshield is tinted and you're involved in a car accident I wonder if it can work against you...anyone know?

Mine is 35% and I love it but you will definitely get harassed. I have had 2 warnings and 1 ticket so far. The only thing that gets me out of trouble sometimes is keeping the sunroof shade always open and cracking the windows to keep it lit up a little inside. If you are okay with always being on the lookout for the po po so you can quickly roll your windows down then get it done. It will also protect your dash and keep the inside cooler for sure. I second keeping some extra cash put aside for the tickets.

Not an expert but I'm assuming ur right. Usually its the owner's due diligence to maintain the car's safety standards, which is proven by inspection - and if the tint would prevent you from 'legally ' passing inspection you probably could be f***ed if someone tried to sue.

Not sure of where you lived, but I can tell you from personal experience that NC is wayyyy more lenient on tint. NYs legal limit is lighter than down here. Went up there last summer in my a6 and got harassed for my NC legal tint. Meanwhile, on my husband's project civic which is darker than legal here, never been bothered down here.

I've got mine tinted 55%. I have no problems with it whatsoever and most of the time I don't even remember that it's tinted. It's hardly noticeable looking in or out.

I live in cabarrus and they don't bother. Alot of NY laws are way stricter then down here. They have a lesser state speed limit, lesser tint, lesser decibel exhaust, blah blah blah. I swear when i moved I was like Ahhhhhh, freedom! LOL

I don't ever get messed with even tho its illegal im prepared to pay the fine if need be but its worth it to me.

ive had 35 & 50% on the same car and loved it. Not ever needing sunglasses like stated above was awesome. However, with the crappy headlights this car had (91 integra with jdm 1 piece), it was sometimes hard to see at night with the 35%, the 50 was np. with the tl, I wouldnt hesitate a second with how well the headlights work.

When i have been hassled for tint here, the officer used some little device that he installed over a window that was rolled down so it could measure how dark it was. there would be no way to use that deal on a front windshield.

When I did tint the front windows, I would always still put a strip/visor across the top. that way when I was asked if my front window was tinted, I could honestly say yes. Plus I dont carry proof of insurance for just such occasions. Officers will usually choose a no insurance ticket over a equipment violation. This has got me out of lots of speeding, no front plate, and tint pullovers over the last 17 years.

U should consider urself a lucky person then lol. Idk if I'd recommend that tho! LOL. my husb got into a bad car accident, completely wrapped around a phone pole, caught on fire, the works. He was then issued a bunch of tickets, no proof of insurance (meanwhile they ran the plates and saw it was insured), crossing over a solid yellow line (on a 1 lane each way back road with no oncoming traffic), the list goes on, meanwhile he was transported to the hospital in Level 2 trauma. Going by ur theory of picking no proof of insurance, don't u think the fact that his car was on fire would have superseded it? LOL.

Dev, it's all personal preference. I like the way it looks, especially on a WDP TL. In my opinion, the practicality and looks of it isn't enough to justify the tickets you could get. It depends on your state laws, too. If tints don't bother you at night, it shouldn't be a problem. My friend has a 35% tint on his GTO and it annoys the crap out of me at night especially on dark roads when I ride shot-gun.

As far as I know, tinting your front windshield below the "AS1" line (look at the upper corners of your windshield , you will see "AS1" in small letters with a line above it just below the factory tint brow) is illegal in all 50 states (federal safety standard).

IMO, for good reason too, because unlike tinting the side and rear windows, it's a genuine safety hazard since it impairs your low light/night time visibility.

Tint your side and rear windows all you want, but don't tint your windshield below the AS1 line. It's illegal and just plain stupid.

I have 5% on all windows, including the sunroof. On my windshield i have a 12" wide strip going across the top. but my car is also from florida. I have never been messed with when i was in virginia or illinois. It is a PITA to see out at night though, but for the look, its worth the hassle.

50% is great. when the rest of the windows are tinted dark. you cant even tell that the windshield is tinted. Therefore, you don't have to worry about tickets as much and the 50% will not sacrifice visibility and it reduces glare of oncoming traffic

I have 35% and can see just fine. 35% and up doesn't really impair your vision. Obviously folks like myself are not too concerned with the illegal aspect seeing as how it is not really a threat to society. Just my .

I wouldn't do it, but if you are going to go for it I would do 50% to be safe and not get hassled by the cops.

Good point. Darker sides make it less noticeable to the regular eye. But anything less than 50%, you have to ask yourself if it's even worth it in the first place.

Definitely do it. I am getting 35% done in a couple of weeks. 20% on tan interior makes the tint look so light.....sick and tired of people being able to see inside. 35% looks great. No visibility problems either. Not sure what tint you have on the side windows.....open the door and look out the window (windows rolled up so you can see through the tint). Test it out at daytime and nighttime. With my headlights on I could see through 20% perfectly fine.....but that is cutting it LOL.

35% is safe and stylish.

The only problem I see is we are both in NY, so we have those stupid registration/inspection stickers on the windshied.....easy to tell our windshield is tinted. I have PBA cards and cops here don't pull you over for tint's alone....just be a safe smart driver and everything should be fine.

I'd pop all of your tires if you took two spots so your better off with a ticket. Please tell me you don't actually take two spots. Really?

I don't personally do it on the regular. 2 or 3 times ever Max. I definitely feel him on it tho, the ppl down here don't know how todrive for the life of them, & they have no problem whipping open their huge heavy doors like they are running to a fire- in a humongo lifted dually.

The worst is areas with pre- painted lines to parallel park. Parallel parking is not on the driving test down here. I have been sitting in my car waiting for my son to get out of school and the ppl parking in front of me just slam into my bumper, countless times. I've gotten out cursing them out at least a dozen times. The only reason I haven't shot anyone is bc the sheriff stands right there directing traffic at dismissal lol

im going for 2 years with 35% on mine with 10% all around it sure looks dark from the outside. i get pulled over for other stuff and the cops have not noticed it.... yet. i think most cops around my area dont really know what a tinted front windshield looks like. me as a window tinter i do not recommend going darker than 35% because you will have trouble seeing at night. but if you want to do it and stay out of the radar i would suggest 50% since that is hard notice, on the the other hand if your willing to take a chance i would say 35% no darker.

I have 40% on mine, have no problems with visibility at night...in fact, I'd say it actually helps at night as it reduces the glare from oncoming headlights. and when I'm driving into work in the morning staring directly into the sun, having a tinted winshield sure makes it easier to see.

I had it on my previous tl too, which was totalled...wasn't my fault though so it was never an issue.

...one of my favorite mods.

Yeah, because we are just getting the tint for vanity reasons. Plus, we are just stating that we can see fine when we can't because lying about such a ridiculous thing makes us feel better. Get over it dude. Keep buying those ridiculous visors for your windshield to keep your car cool and protect your dash and meanwhile mine is always cool...whenever, wherever, and my dash will last longer than yours. Ouch. Thanks for comin' out.
