acura batteries

my 07 tl hit 4 years and suddenly went dead.

my 08 rdx didnt get that far,3 1/2 years.
if fact it was just in for service 2 weeks ago.
dealer complimentary multi point inspection.
showed battery in the green at 75 % mark.

wife gets stuck last week.
calls me i advise her to call acura roadside assistance.
the operator tells her if they dispatch truck and car starts when they arrive,she will be billed.
i told her forget them,they will make you wait an hour anyway.i had my son there in 10 minutes.
a quick jump start and a trip to sears for a new battery.

i never had roadside give me that line when requesting assistance.
i dont think they should be saying that.people arent calling in false alarms.
if they call they are stuck.maybe after waiting too long for a truck they may sometimes get someone else to jump them.if thats the case all they need to do is call back and cancel the truck.sounds like the acura policy is trying to discourage those in need from getting their help.

anyone else ever get that line from roadside assistance?
or have batteries going dead sooner then expected?

on a more positive acura client relations exchange,i sent acura the bill.they said they will pay for the battery.

I'm sure you know, batteries die.

Here in Houston, I'd be lucky if I can get 3 years out of them.Most of mine die right around the 2 year mark.
I have road side assistance through my insurance and they give me that line all the time.

yes batteries die.and i wouldnt have thought that much of it,but for the fact acura service claims they checked it less then 2 weeks before and it was at 75%
from what i been reading it seems acura batteries dont have that long a life excpectancy.its an upscale brand,with customers paying a premium for that brand,it appears acura is cutting corners on their battery quality.

batteries dying at the 2 year mark like you mentioned should be unacceptable.
your battery should at least last as long as your warranty which is 4 years.
if i get the 4 years out of it i have no beef.anything less then that i do.

i rightfully complained to acura and they picked up the cost of new,not pro rated.
after numerous dead battery complaints and payouts,they might reconsider their choice of batteries.acura owners,dont suck it up,call em on it.

Meh, I did not purchase my vehicle new.
Batteries are one of those things, that I will not press the dealer for, as a 79.99 battery from walmart or the likes will be MUCH MUCH better than the acura oem battery.

there are a lot more guys that think like you then think like me.
thats just what acura likes.
i didnt get a replacement oem.i got a sears die hard,and acura paid,$109.00.

this isnt limited to acura.if i purchase a product im not happy with,i contact the company,to bring it to their attention,and then ask them what they can do to make it right.most companies will make it right,because you were not the first person to call,and they know they have a problem.its good business.

That is crazy, obviously she would not call if she could not get the car started.

I find Acura's have poor lasting batteries. That said, with all of the electronics, that is high end stereos, nav systems if equipped, suck the life out of the battery. My wife's 09 TSX which is 2.5 years old, was broght in just before the warranty expired, and one issue was the battery was not working properly and they replaced it no charge.

The op mentioned that he took it in for service, firstly any service tech that lifts the hood to check oil levs will disconnect the battery. Retarded i know! I recommend: check to see if the connection has rattled loose 2 weeks is about right, leads me to think that by the age and time. there maybe more fight left in your battery so you may save some hard earned dough by tighten the connections first.

Sidenote: Try to be stingy with your batteries, try not to jump start other cars, repeatedly ergo: everyday dude asks for a jump, say your dog chewed them up! It's important to help those in need but not the same dude everyday(happened to me when I was a teen, eventually drained my battery)

Back to the point, I think the neg side is loose and not full contact with the post. Check the pos side too.

Secondly any auto parts store can test your charge on your batteries.
