Rear brake rotor: inserting that rubber stopper

This feels like a dumb question but I'm hesitant to ruin something so here it goes. How do I get that little rubber stopper into a new rotor? I pushed it out of the old one and went to push it in the new rotor but can't get it seated to save my life. Any pressure just flattens it out so it won't get through the hole. I'm hesitant to use a tool because I don't want to damage the rubber. I've lubed it up with WD-40 but still can't get the darn thing in there. Suggestions? Thx.

Try to pinch the base and insert it.

Twisting/screwing motion might help.

use a small flat head screw driver and push it down, the base rubber plug is pretty thick.

..and just work your way around it. And don't forget to brake-kleen it when you're done.
