Rocko's Progress Thread (Minor Update 1/6/13)

I'm pretty broke at the moment but I want to do something nice for him (yes, 'him' - Rocko) for his big day turning 1...00k. Any thoughts or ideas? Am I insane? Hahah!

Unprofessional birthday photo shoot celebration coming soon (Just have to get some nice weather first)!

Stay tuned...

If you're short on money, maybe just a wash and wax.

Looks like you need to polish his knob (shift), and you should definitely give him a nice hand (wax) job....then you and your Barkeeper's Friend can clean his tailpipe (exhaust). Too much?

Sorry, you asked for it.

I could use that treatment myself! ...minus the exhaust bit.. *sigh*

If I have any money left over this paycheck, I'm leaning towards a manual hideaway front license plate holder or type s rear smoked side markers (ebay - neondials??) Gotta see how big my paycheck is on friday

Any other suggestions?

I also second the notion for a new knob, I like that Maven countersunk one.

I have the Swift manual hideaway plate mount. It's great, but a little expensive for what it is.

I say detail it, either by a professional or by yourself if you know what you are doing.

I fought insurance for an interior detail after my car was broken into and left a complete mess, so it's pretty darn spotless at the moment (needs to be dusted and vacuumed again but that's just upkeep).

I'm not a professional but I will be doing my best in the morning. I just prep washed him tonight but this is not all going to happen at once because I have and will be working all weekend thru memorial day (and beyond...and forever and ever..lol) and then the weather is supposed to be a tad shitty again...we'll see..

Rocko's Mini Photo Shoot - '05 NBP 6MT A-Spec

I don't know how to update thread topics so I'm sorry for the new thread - It would be great if someone could enlighten me so I can inform you guys when/if I update this thread instead of creating new ones

Hey, I'm Justin. I've been a member for a while but haven't been on here much until lately. Bought the car just over 4 years ago, then moved to Oregon. I just moved back home (WA state) a few months ago.

Quick rundown of my car:

'05 NBP A-Spec 6MT + Nav. (with now just over 100,000 miles)
-AEM CAI
-Comptech Exhaust
-Rotora drilled/slotted rotors
-Tein Coilovers
-19" Gunmetal Axis Hiro's
-Modded headlights
-Type-S Taillights
-De badged
-Modded front grill
-Half of a mangled sound system in the trunk (partial casualty of a recent break-in/theft. I don't have the money to fix it right now )

The kid finally hit 100k!

^^^I was determined to get that pic! I was racing down the freeway in the pouring rain because I was late for work BUT I GOT IT! Hahahah

I haven't really had time for a good detail but I did get a chance to wash and do a light compound job and re wash before work today. Then on my way home I stopped near my house and took a few pictures. I didn't want to bog down this thread with a bunch of pictures of the car at the same angles over and over so this is short and sweet!

ENJOY! And let me know what you think!

Thanks for looking!

Justin-

Sadly it's not.. BUT THANKS!

His name is Rocko for a reason (I believe an AZ'er helped me come up up with the name)! The car has an unbelievable amount of rock chips in the front end and their are swirl marks galore in direct sunlight! And there are some concentrated scratches around the door from where these assholes broke in (driver's rear door)

Gotta love a good blemish hiding overcast sunset!

Thanks, Steve!

And thanks guys!

I need to do something about the headlights.. they were modded prior to ownership. Everything looks great minus the blinkers. they are exposed led boards and it looks like the blinker cut out was cut further (and poorly) to allow for the board..not sure. Not really familiar with the headlights as stock. And half of the board is burnt out/flickering led's. There was also no resistor put in so my blinkers blink fast.

Thoughts? Remedies?

Here is a (old) photo of the headlights in the dark.

There are an equal amount of amber led's to go with the blue that alternate lighting up when the blinker is on...only now all of the blue led's are burnt out on one side and flicker/strobe like they're going to go out on the other.

So far the ambers still work but I suspect they will eventually go soon so I need to find a different solution because I don't really like them anyway.

I will try and snap a daytime pic so you can see the "housing" to see if I can do something else or if I'm just stuck with trying to track down the same led board

I'm a hobby photographer at best but thank you for the props! I love taking "photographs" when I take pictures, but I lack something I can't quite figure out. My photos never seem to have that amazing professional clarity.. I strive for good composition though!

Btw i just noticed that my passenger taillight blinker housing is loose! the blinker cover is just sort of laying on the outer cover...am I seriously going to have to open my taillight up to fix this? (rhetorical question) Grrrrr...

Good tail: (notice how the red blinker cover is recessed in the curved divide)

Bad tail: (notice how it's not! lol! )

It seems to have basically fallen out of place..

I've never opened up lights before but I was kicking around the idea of removing the led diffusers anyway...two birds with one stone perhaps?

*sigh*
