I'll be able to see this TL in person tonight. Jay Wolfe Acura is hosting an Open House event tonight to introduce the new TL. There is a drawing for a one year lease of a new TL too! Food, entertainment, etc.......I'll let you know how the event turns out.

I was at the Kansas City Jay Wolfe event last night and had a good look at the black car with the painted beak. It looked alot better than the other TL's, but was a $485 dealer option.

I’m going to hold out until I see a car with the whole front end color matched. The car with the paint matched trim around the beek looks way better. I think color matching the whole front end, the roof (not the window (real) chrome trim), and the rear fake chrome under the trunk lid would make the car come together very nicely. It is only a matter of time before someone does it. Can’t wait to see it! I would have to put a nice conservative set of 19-20" wheels staggered (offset) to the fenders to match the large proportions of the car. I think even the 19" look odd and small on the car, particularly the rear wheels. They should have put wider wheels on the rear of the car like BMW. It would set the car off! From looking at the car I can see the rear wheels look further into the center of the car than the fronts in relation to the edge of the fender at the top of the tire. It makes me wonder if they did that so they could put larger rear wheels on the S if it ever comes out. The 17"s are awful and have no business on that car period. I like the 5-spoke wheels on the dark slate TL above with the matched beak but not in chrome, way to flashy/silly. It's getting better. Cant believe the dealers are having to make changes to OEM design. It says a LOT about how wrong this sucker came out of the factory.
Having said all that, I don’t think anyone should have to spend 2-4K to make a 40K+ car look like it should have from the factory, PERIOD! 2cents

Well we have a couple TL's in the shop getting wheels put on today and one has a painted grill. Note this is not my car it belongs to a dealer. I just wanted to post because I thought some of you would be interested in what this may look like. I think it makes the front look a lot more attractive. I will get some full body shots when the car is done. Enjoy

I agree with LuvMyTSX. This one looks much better. Maybe if they paint the beak as well, it may eliminate the ugliness.

Mike, I was there too! I liked the look-it was WELL worth the $485. I feel like it saves the car.

Looks a tad better then the stock grill. But man that "lip" over the front wheels in the fender just looks so ridiculous. It is such an overstated attempt to make the car look agressive or "tough" but it just looks idiotic. Nothing "refined" looking about it....just like the "beak" and the trunk....man, the more I look at the car and type the angrier I am getting at the lunatics who came up with this body style....and the lunatics who let it out of the design studio! Ahhhhhhhh....I want to scream!!

I'm sure you all know this is the all wheel drive model? I had the pleasure of driving one of the factory demo cars yesterday! I think everyone will be suprised! This photo looks to be from a sales training ride and drive... No photoshop here! That is the car is raw form. Lower stance and diff wheels fogs etc. It also has 2 tone inter, much like the 08 type-s. They hit the dealers next month BTW

Yep - I'm starting to change my thinking from polished metal metalic to black myself - waiting for the AWD...

This one is just slightly different from the factory look, but it is just the right amount of altering and comes off looking so much better and it disguises the hugeness of the grill. If I decide to get a 4G TL, this is what I'll do to mine.

I think I like this one a lot! Wait a minute, how much will the add-ons add to the price of the car? Or how long do you guys think it'll take for the dealers to start throwing in this stuff for free if the car doesn't sell?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Acura does not come out with something like this very soon from the factory. They could easily mass produce a color matched vinyl application that could be incorporated for use on the current stock grille across the board, or only on specific trim levels.
Note to Acura:
You are welcome for the suggestion. Please contact me so that we can discuss an appropriate compensation arrangement should you decide to use my idea on your car.

I could live without the kit. Just the grille treatment brings it to where I could live with it. I don't like the door molding that the kit adds and I especially dislike the white lens in the fog light area. Looks like a huge grin IMO. The ground effects part is OK though.

Just like the black TL, this paint job makes the nose look good. It gives it a TSX type nose. In any case, it saves the car!

I spend 2 much time here
i agree, for some reason, in that color and with the painted grill that TL looks so much better than all the others i've seen.

Yea, It's Me!
Hi all, my first post. I've done a lot of research, drove most of the competition and decided to give up my S2000 for the new 4G last Thursday. It's in the shop now getting the body kit, 18" wheels and the beak painted WDP. I'll post pictures when I get it back. I went with the 18" wheels in hopes of balancing out the bland look of the stock 17s and the stiffer ride that would have come with the 19s. Between myself, my wife and 2 daughters this is Honda product #15. None have ever been in the shop except for oil changes and maybe 60k and 90k services. I wasn't sure about the 4G looks until I saw the car in person and drove it and the RL. I went with the white because I thought all of the bright-work trim integrated well. Didn't care about the AWD because this thing scoots really well with the base engine and I have my 4Runner for nasty weather. The acceleration is so much better and has quicker response than the IS 250 I briefly owned. The IS ended up to be too small, using the nav sucked while the car was in motion, the front end rock-chipped too easy and the front wheel brake dust build-up was ridiculous. Glad to be aboard and hope to be a active participant.

Hi and welcome aboard! Slowly but surely, our "little" 4G family is growing! Hey all you 4G "haters" out there, you will one day be "assimilated.".....Resistance is futile!. Congrats and I hope you enjoy your 4G as much as I do!

I like these mods to the black TL- the underbody kit, bigger wheels, and the way the grill is painted. I think this could be a winning combination that other dealers around the country could duplicate. Let's hope thay are paying attention to this forum.
