When my car was rear ended about two weeks ago, my car had almost no visible swirl marks. Anyway, when I got my car back, they notified me that they washed the car, and probably used garbage towels. There are a lot of swirl marks now compared to before. Before I was rear ended I planned to apply my first ever coat of wax(which was Zaino Z2 and ZFX). I really dont want to buy the Z5 yet, because I want to see if I am satisfied with the look of my car after I apply Z2. Now the question is, when I apply Z2 and if I am not happy because there are to many visible swirl marks can I go buy Z5 and apply right over the coat of Z2. Will this fill in the swirl marks, or will I have to use Dawn and strip the wax, and start all over again?

You can use the 5 over the 2, they are interchangeable. Use the 5 until you're happy, then go back to the 2. May take three to five coats or so.

I used 3M abrasive products with an orbital polisher on a black car a few months ago. And after washing with Dawn to remove the 3M oils, put on three coats of ZFX/Z-5 and the swirls were gone. YMMV.

Yeah, for some reason, bodyshops are lacking in their ability to detail. I just got mine back from the body shop and they destroyed the clearcoat.

Z5 and Z2 are interchangeable as stenoslave says. However, it may take quite a few coats of z5 to cover up the big swirls.
