I had it at 480x234 with 256 colors and the file size was over 330,000..... I tried playing with the size and with the number of colors and was unable to make the file any smaller.... any help will be greatly appreciated..... Here is mine.. I just took this photo with my cell phone (I left my camera in my office). I'll take a better picture later. It was pretty easy to do (about 5 min).

I just have a question about the NAG SCREEN. I have opened the bin file with a hex editor, and I cannot find any of the words in the nag screen... I have noticed the only people that have been able to edit their nag screen, they all had 05 TL's. I know some C++, assembly, etc.... so I kinda know what I'm doing, but I just simply can't find those words ... is there any 04 owners here who have been able to modify their nag screen??

any ideas?

by the way, thanx to shotcaller88 for this image

That can happen if the download is bad, try downloading it again. Does that fix?

Startup Screen

Here's my contribution to the start-up screen collection:
I originally took this photo like three years ago when I first got an LCD screen. The pic is of the old screen, after I exerted my anger on it with a hammer and brass pipe. Neat?

p.s. Sorry it's a link instead of pic, I couldn't get the IMG thing to recognise an FTP server.

I need the program again, and it looks like all the links are down? Is there somewhere I can still get the hack to change the image? I got it a few weeks ago but now I cant seem to find it again anywhere.

In my wife's 06 MDX... the nag screen is instant..... after the Acura Navigation "planet logo" comes up.. the nag screen pops up with the "OK" already available... no waiting!... that really burned me up.. I have to wait like 15-20 seconds to get the "OK" to push... but in the new Navi, there's no waiting... plus she gets Zagat, instant trip computer, more voice commands, little nicer graphics....oh well, at least it's in the family....

Yeah, my girlfriend bought a 2006 Honda Civic yesterday. Her nag screen pops the OK button instantly also, plus there's a more funcationality and the screens are cooler looking. I hope Acura upgrades the Nav for the TL's otherwise I'll never hear the end of how her cheap little civic is better then my luxury sports sedan. **ugh** Plus, I'd like the additional functionality and cooler screens myself...

is there a way we could upgrade our navi to the faster versions? upgrading the unit itself, not the screen or such.

Can you please tell us more about how to get this program or even what Honda calls it? It may work on my 2004 Accord. That would be way cool.

Thanks!

any further development

i think its great we can change our nag screens and bmps, but consdering the amount of control the gui can have over our car shouldn't we be persuing this further? I looked around and didn't find anything. Is there a post for continuing development and not simply talking about or posting new bmps...

hell i know alot of us would be willing to contribute $$ to a group of people working on nav mods... theres gotta be a group out there (or just bysin) that wants to start/continue development???

just my 2 cents..

Agreed. I am surprised that no one has 'cracked' some of the code since this topic started 8 months ago. I downloaded some tools (debuggers, Windows CE environments, emulators), but I cannot find the right setup to simulate the navi on my PC. If I had a SH-4 Windows CE development or debugging environment, I would trace to the point where the OK button must be pressed (Nag screen) and work around it.

Any other volunteers out there?

I am a bit confused. Have people been able to take out the need to hit "OK" or not? I have a 06 TL.

I also tried to hold down the "Map/Guide, Menu, Cancel" then go to "Version" and I did not see any filename. Is the hack not possible?

Another idea

Rather than posting all this information in different places why not pull our resources together in a central area. We could probably make a sourceforge site, host one on our own internet connection, or get our very own acurazine to host a private development section. I'd be more than happy to arrange for the first two solutions. There are alot of developers with both tsx's and TL's. It would be wise to combine all their talent into one place with someone leading the project.

I have site space and I'm a software developer.

I already have the zip files for what has been done already to the navi on my site, look a couple of pages back to find the link.

I would me more than happy to allow postings etc. to my site in order to get the navi hacked!

I agree... I have been reading all this information and it's really cool stuff. Where I'm a bit confused and I believe your suggestion will be ideal. Is to clearly state what's needed, what you are able to modify and to wich model year it applies.

That way everyone knows if its applicable or not to their model and year. Please see my humble draft suggestion below:

1. Acura Models to which this "hack" applies and year.
2. What to expect from doing the hack for the respective model year.
3. Detail step by step instructions, including all the zip files or tools necessary.

****************************************
What to expect under each model year:
Remove NAG screen, add Customize background..... etc

Model years:
Acura TL3.2 99, 00, 01 - 02, 03
Acura CL3.2 99, 00, 01 - 02, 03
Acura TL 04,05,06
Acura TSX ..........
Acura RL.......
