agreed. also, doesn't McLaren send out their own engineers when these cars need service? wouldn't it have made best sense - weight-wise - to omit the tools completely?

VW Chairman Ferdinand Piëch Bought His Wife A LaFerrari

SEBASTIAN APRIL 22, 2014 2

Ferdinand Piëch, grandson of Ferdinand Porsche is one of the best and most important engineers the automobile industry ever had – it is said that he can take apart a car and set it up again while he is asleep. He is for example the person who stands behind the legendary Porsche 917 or that the VW Group now owns supercar brands like Bugatti and Lamborghini.

Besides his abilities as an engineer and manager he is of course a huge car guy. Nobody really knows much about his private collection but it should be one like no other. A lot of people think that it includes all current premium models of the VW-Group including future models (he was spotted in a new RS6 half a year before start of production) for him to test and we know for sure that it includes several Veyrons.

But it’s not just cars by the VW Group. In the past Piëch bought a lot of Ferrari’s like the Ferrari 458 and a Ferrari F12 for his wife. Recently we saw this photo of a brand new LaFerrari and telling from the initials on the licence plate we can say that this car belongs to Mrs. Piëch. You can also notice that there is a new Speciale next to it and we can be sure that if it’s not already his car he will buy one very soon.

but eh, she can have the lackluster LaFerrari. I'd rather own any number of other cars.

The car gods will have you struck down with the utmost of impunity for this insolence.

Cost aside, I love the F12 Berlinetta. I would rather have that than the Poopdick.

^ Agreed.

Though I think hypercars are amazing... if you had a mil or two and bought one, what would you do with it?

I think I would too

The Poopdick is one of those cars I'd be timid about driving around. God forbid it end up airborne like that Lamborghini. I was crazy about the F12 when it first came out too.

Honestly, as an investment. Drive it enough to keep it from falling apart and then selling it when I'm 80 and people are flying around in a dystopian future.

We won't be flying around...we'll be living underground in massive silos (says the Hugh Howey fan).

Considering how red-neck you are, you're scared of anything not a pick-up.

Poopdick among the pantheon of some Ferrari greats...not all...

I think she fits right in and is just as gorgeous...if not more so.

BUT, if it is the popular thing to hate on the Poopdick, fine by moi. Less people to fight for her.

Cars in general aren't the greatest investment though.

Generally, Ferraris are going to do something.

Remember when the Dino was a joke and no one really wanted one?

Now they're $350-400k cars.

As long as Ferrari doesn't make 50,000 Poopdicks, those things will be worth some major coin one day. Assuming the world doesn't collapse and we're all chasing each other around with sticks again.

They're already est. $2 million+ on the used market ($1.77 million, give or take new). Shouldn't be long before that "one day".

You know one thing I never understood is this. You drive your new car off the lot and you lose money right away. I'm willing to bet you lose close to the same amount of money buying used car from a dealer. Unless you go private which involve more risks.

Also cars in general are good investments cause you're not limited to the jobs you can take assuming you dont live in a city that has amazing public transportation and all your job outlooks are within that city.

The TL has been one of the best cars/investments I've made. Very reliable and comfortable given the amount of miles I drive a day/year. I cannot rely on public transportation given the location of where I need to be throughout the day.

The mustang on the other hand...it cost money even when it doesn't move.

Pretty sure they're genuine. Never seen them with a low back like that, but there were plenty of MBs with factory Recaros in the 80s.
All the 2.3-16 & Sporline LE 190s had Recaros, IIRC.

Always wanted to see a Blackwood. Is it as bad IRL as it is in pics?

I meant as a strictly financial investment. If I was out to make money, the last thing I would buy is a car.

It'd be the first (and second, and third, and fourth, and probably fifth) thing I would buy after I made money though.

The guy I used for tires has/had one, been a while since I've seen him. He loves it.
Can't imagine what the powered tonneau cover has to cost if it needs repairs.

Of course, he also has an '85 S10 Blazer with a GTO 6.0 6MT in it.

Different friend of mine.
He bought this '84 & it was lifted on skinny mud tires. He wanted more of a "Gasser" look & put 15" wide rears on it. This one just has a 350/700R4 in it.

It's actually quick & stable on the highway. Always turns heads when he has it out.

Searched & can't find a picture of the 6.0 Blazer online. If I happen to see it, I'll try to grab a shot or two of it & the 1940-something Chevrolet truck he has with a Vette engine in it.

Did find this gem with their little group

wow that's wild. nothing like I thought it would resemble.

If you find any pix of the 6.0 Blazer please share.

my technical first car (owned by my dad) was a '84 S10 Blazer so it has a special place in my heart. That's what I was driving on permit and for a couple years after so I learned the basic gist of driving on that as well. Man that 2.8L V6 was making like, 120hp.

also, I loved the Typhoon and Syclone.

My friend's dad's Blazer was the worst vehicle I've ever driven. I'm not sh*tting you if you turned the steering wheel left it felt like the Blazer was going right. I had to drive the damn thing from CT to MA to help my buddy move back home from UMASS for the summer. It was the most stressful drive of my life lol.

it can help you be able to drive anything but it can't bend the laws of physics when driving at triple-digit speeds.

I've driven some shit vehicles.. in the SUV category, XJ Jeep with the death wobble. Sure this might be fine out in the stick, but on the highway where everyone is going 60+, not so good. 90's Explorer.. piece of shieeeetttt.

I'll see your cars and raise you the Ford Aerostar. That was absolute "fun" to drive. Not.
