I have a CL type s 6 speed and was looking for suspension suggestions for lowering the car. Should I get coil overs or lowering springs and which brands are the best?

there are a lot of options out there. most springs tend to sit funny on the manual CL because they are lighter up front and the front will sit higher than it should. So coilovers are your best bet.

Do you just want a drop with stock ride feel or do you want dampening options? ksports ride pretty harsh and i've not heard great things about them. Tein basis coilovers are your basic coilover.....ride height adj. and stock feel.

That said i like the drop from my springs and i'm just looking for some koni yellows shocks.

had the tein h coil springs and currently with eibach springs...switching soon to neuspeed springs becuase the drop is even steven from front to back whereas the tein and eibach had uneven drops...

heard Koni yellows are good adjustable dampers

Tein SS coilovers and the ride height and dampening adjustment make it ride the way you like. Never had any problems with them.

I got Koni Yellows (2001 CL-S) back in the fall. My ride height actually increased slightly after replacing the OEM struts at 105,000 miles. Everything else is stock on the car. They are kind of bouncy. They're smoother over small bumps and cracks but the ride is "lively" and bouncy. I can't really recommend them, even on the lowest adjustment, because the bouncing can get really bad at times. I've had people complain it made them sick. It's definitely livable on the lowest setting, but then the handling isn't that special. The handling is a massive improvement at higher settings, though. Body lean is way less, and the steering is considerably more responsive. When I bought these I had read one review that said the ride was bouncy, but only one, so I took a chance. Now I have to live with the ride. I can't afford a set of good coilovers.

Mine's not lowered but I can say that I used to have Tein SS coilovers on my prelude and I absolutely loved them. Fully adjustable (height and strut stiffness). It may cost you a little more than springs but well worth it IMO.

It depends on what you're looking for. Did you want adjustable ride height and/or adjustable damping? What is your budget?

Tein basis is what you want then. They won't slam the car, but there's plenty of adjustment with stock like feel.

Koni Yellows are designed for an aftermarket spring with a higher spring rate than stock. Did you have the OEM CL-S springs on the car?

H&R springs with Bilstein sport shocks are what I have and recommend.

It won't slam your car but it does lower it enough to get rid of the horrible factory wheel gap, and it significantly improves the car's handling.

Your best bet is the TEIN Street Advance coilovers and then setting the damping to a softer setting.
