I've always loved the A8, but the ass on this one is too squarish. It just looks odd.

The sketches are beautiful. Though It seems like it could be an A7, I and definitely see it wearing an A8 badge. The slopping rear doesn't concern me, because it reaches all the way into the trunk, there still should be enough headroom int he rear seats for a adults. I love the short decklid and wide stance.

I think it looks hot. But like some others have said, looks more fitting for an A7 instead of an A8.

Rear seems Panameraish with the roundness it's got going on.
It seems to break with the lines of the rest of the A-line.

Post Next Generation Audi A8 Coming in 2010

From WCF...

German car news outlet Automobilwoche claims Audi has confirmed a 2010 release for the new Audi A8. This validates rumors about the A8 that have been around for a while.

An Audi spokesman told the Automobilwoche, "Our new flagship will come next year."

WCF previously reported that the Audi A8 will be released with two diesel and two petrol engines. The two engine displacements available will include a 3.0-liter and 4.2-liter V8. It does not appear that Audi will release a hybrid version of the car, unlike the BMW 7-Series and the Mercedes S-Class. However, Audi will likely improve A8 fuel consumption with a start-stop automatic. An Audi S8 could see the benefit of a 620 hp 5.0-liter V10 FSI.

It is also looking more likely that the Audi A8 will use the ASF II, the second generation of the company's Aluminum Space Frame. It uses an aluminum passenger cell, with steel and foam built in to reinforce vulnerable areas.

No word yet on the debut location of the new 2010 Audi A8. An introduction at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September seems to be a distinct possibility.

When audi has a 4 cylinder in its FLAGSHIP o its ok but ACRUA ALWAYS UNDERPOWERED WTF

just read the comments too everyone is like OOO how smart how economical~ but the same ppl BASH ACURA FOR THE SAME THING!

http://www.leftlanenews.com/report-a...-cylinder.html

Although most luxury flagship models follow the formula of big engines for big power, one automaker is rethinking that equation in the face of stricter emissions regulations. Audi will be bucking the trend with its next-generation A8, offering a four-cylinder engine alongside the typical six- and eight-cylinder offerings.

Audi’s all-new A8 is expected to hit the market about this time next year, with the German automaker likely to offer a four-cylinder in its flagship model for the first time. Volkswagen Group CEO Martin Winterkorn revealed to AutoTelegraaf that the decision to offer the four-pot in the A8 is directly related to upcoming European CO2 standards.
The displacement of the A8’s four-cylinder engine remains unknown, but power is pegged at 230 horsepower. The A8 four-cylinder will likely be offered in front and all-wheel drive.
Although the idea of a high-mileage luxury barge is a rather intriguing prospect, the four-pot version won’t be offered in the U.S. However, Audi is considering marketing the A8 with a six-cylinder in the States, which would undoubtedly result in a bump in economy.

If you were surprised when Audi launched its 2010 S4 with a six-cylinder motor rather than another V8, you better be sitting down to read this. According to engineering director Michael Dick, the 2014 Audi S4 will have a turbocharged four-cylinder engine under its hood — and so will the next S5.

How is it possible for a four-banger to deliver the level of performance worthy of an “S” badge? The answer has as much to do with the rest of the car as it does with the motor. Mr. Dick told Car and Driver the new S5, for example, will be 880 pounds lighter than the existing model. He said Audi will increase its use of structural aluminum and magnesium to achieve this goal. The 2012 A6 will also make use of lighter materials, he said.
Dick went on to say the S5 prototypes currently being tested weigh around 3,000 lbs, with all the same safety features as the current car. Performance is said to be improved as well — the cars are reportedly able to lap Germany’s Nurburgring race track eight seconds faster than the current S5.
The 2014 S4 and S5 prototypes currently being tested look identical to today’s models, but the production cars will get a freshened look with cues from the forthcoming A7, which is based on the Audi Sportback Concept.
In the interim, the 2011 S5 is expected to lose its V8 in favor of the same V6 that’s in the new S4.
With Mercedes eliminating most of its V12 offerings and BMW increasingly turning to smaller engines with turbochargers, it’s clear German automakers are moving away from high-displacement high-horsepower motors. Does this mean the “horsepower wars” are officially over? We certainly thinks so. Enter the “efficiency wars.”

Red face Audi vs Acura

Altho I have always applauding Acura for making a 4 cylinder luxury car, I think that the problem people had was that it was the only option ... no v6 was available.

As for Audi, I think that they are getting less heat bc they are kind of being forced into it w/ the new regulations & economic conditions. Acura launched the TSX when everyone else was in the middle of the HP wars. Plus, Audi is still offering v6 & v8s as options in those vehicles.

Acura can now sit & smile knowing that they were ahead of the game (altho the competition seems to be turboing their 4 cylinders) but the problem w/ paving the way means that you also get a lot of the initial flack.

From what I read from that article, Audi will still offer it's six and eight cylinder engines as an option. From what I recall, Acura customers who were complaining about power on their cars, particularly the TSX, now have an option for MY2010 .

I work for Honda and part of the reason they don't do it is due to the combinations/ logistics issues.
Okay here's an example C350 i'm sure takes a different wiring harness than a C63 AMG. so therefore you have to store in a warehouse(either NK parts or NEX) the wiring harness for the c63. same goes with different front bumpers, and so on.
then you need new block dies. Plus on top of that MS(material service) has a greater chance on mixing parts when they do delivers to you line side. plus what y'all don't realize is Anna Engine Plant is Honda's largest engine plant in the world.
Line 1- does Civic and Accord
Line 2-v-6 (V-6 Accord, all the Acura v-6s)
Line 3- Civic Si, some overflow of Accord, they can do Civic if needed, they can do V-6 but their down to 1 shift of V-6 now.
so what i'm trying to say is the more parts you mix with all the models we build(including international models) the more likely we are to mess shit up.

Can you still get a W12 in the A8? If so that'd be awesome. You could now get an I4, V6, V8, V10 (S8) and a W12 in the A/S8. win.

Europe != America (yet).

Because the rules in the US are different, Acura gets bashed because they can't run with the big boys.

4-cylinder A8/RL in Sweden? Yup. 4-cylinder RL in Connecticut? No freakin' way.

You sound like a hysterical asian fanboi ... The world isn't out to get you.
