We've been trying to get rid of Manny for years now... Heck, we placed him on waivers.... Someone could have picked him up without having to trade anyone... Just pay his salary... Nobody wanted him then.

I keep hearing that Manny wants to be on the west coast, but I think ultimately, he'll end up with the Mets, or in Boston next year...

 

I would think so, but to tell you the truth, I don't think it really matters...

I don't really remember what ChickenMan (Wade Boggs) went in as, but I'm assuming it was as a Red Sox, even tho' his most famous moment was riding that damn horse in a yankees uniform

 

The Mets are always an option, but there's talk of the Angels this go-round too. Will be interesting, in any event. I love Manny and appreciate what he brings to the team, but all that money opens all kinds of doors.

Yeah, I'm sure you've heard the jokes about how manny was able to go unnoticed at the Mall out there, so that's why he's interested in the Angels, but I'm not sure if it'll happen... Manny is just making too much money.

I think it's a combination of his huge salary and the fact that he is always asking to be traded. He's a left-over from the time of ridiculous contract deals and I'm guessing they think the money might be better spent elsewhere. The fact that he's always asking to be traded only makes the decision easier.

 

And why is he always asking to be traded? What has the Red Sox organization ever done to "disrespect" him (you can disrespect me ANYDAY if you paid me that much...hell, you can whip me with dental floss)...?

I think his biggest gripe is with the whole media spotlight thing here in Boston. He wants, as Greenie pointed out, to be able to walk around the mall without being swarmed. The boston talk radio circuit is very unforgiving and many players throughout the years have had their complaints...

I agree. I don't see them flipping Delgado to Boston. I think they should concentrate on getting a catcher and some relief pitching.

 

A catcher is a must. I'm hoping for Molina because I want a defensive specialist. More important than bullpen help is a second baseman. I think Matsui should be shot in the leg.

There bullpen will vastly improve when they get Wagner and they have Looper as a setup man. Thats a pretty nasty lefty/righty 1-2 punch.

I'm happy with Delgado.

I think they should bat in this order...

Reyes, Beltran, Wright, Delgado, Floyd, Nady, Hopefully Molina, Matsui, Pedro

Rowand for Thome is the worst trade I've seen in a while. Why would the ChiSox want to take on Thome's huge contract and have a player that's 7 years older?

 

I believe the ChiSox would have demanded that the Phillies take on a chunk of Thome's contract. I'd be VERY surprised if they are taking on all of it...

 

Even still. Thome is 35. I can't imagine he'll play a lot next season. He only played 59 games last season.

 

He's definitely not what he was when he was with the Indians...and definitely a downgrade from Konerko. However, let's see what the ChiSox do next...
