Top Gear's The Stig revealed as married man 'who drives boring car'

Some say his tongue can strip the paint off a Porsche in 30 seconds, and that his first name really is 'The'.
Until now, all we knew was he was called The Stig.
But his secret identity appears now to have been leaked.
He is a married man, who lives in a comfortable £300,000 home and drives an unglamorous £15,000 car.
The racing star, who tests new cars and coaches celebrities in the Star in a Reasonably Price Car segment on the show featuring Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May has always kept his identity a closely-guarded secret.
The News Of The World discovered his true identity thanks to a leak in the BBC show.
Although not revealing his name, it gave some clues into the mysterious man's identity.
He found his first track outing when he was younger "terrifying" but this did not stop him from racing in Formula First, GT Racing and Stock Cars, while he almost made it to Formula One.
He is in his 30s, and earns around £150,000 a year combining his Top Gear job with some stunt and test driving.
A BBC source told the newspaper: "This is the best-kept secret in motor racing and we want to keep it that way.
"No one will ever officially confirm his identity."
It would appear the current version of The Stig has no intention of following in the footsteps of his predecessor Perry McCarthy.
McCarthy was The original Stig for 22 Top Gears but was "killed off" by being shot off the end of aircraft carrier HMS Invincible in a rocket-powered vehicle after revealing his secret.

Fans of Top Gear might want to prepare themselves for another Stig death soon. When "Black Stig" Perry McCarthy revealed himself, Clarkson, Hammond and May offed him. Now, according to the UK's Telegraph, the "White Stig" has apparently ended the mystery, revealing himself as 33 year-old Ben Collins. Collins has raced professionally in everything from NASCAR to LeMans, and most recently served as Agent 007's double for sequences of Quantum of Solace that required fancy wheel work. It's been such a secret for so long, how did the veil of silence come to be broken? Collins himself apparently revealed his day job to the owner of an art gallery in Bristol, England when asking for help producing a limited-edition print of The Stig plying his trade.
A builder had also come across the famed white suit and gloves on display in a cabinet while doing work at Collins' home, and there has been conjecture in the past that Collins is The Stig. Now that the cat is out of the bag, we wonder if there's much wailing and gnashing of teeth in the halls of Top Gear's offices. Secret identity or no, Collins has proven himself as a fantastic driver as The Stig, and with this latest revelation, he potentially faces "The Sack" as they say in Merry Old.
No confirmation yet from Clarkson, Hammond or May on this revelation, and the only word out of Top Gear is that they "...never comment on speculation as to who or what The Stig is." Hmm. In any case, we are left to wonder... what color will a new Stig be? Red? Gold? Blue?

it would suck if they got rid of this stig. the white stig has become such a large part of the show (larger than the black one was). It would be awesome if they got Lewis Hamilton as the next stig (probably not though)
i think it was much more fun when the stig was just some moron with a brain the size of a golf ball who sleeps upside down.
when people pry into these things it kind of takes away the humor and just the whole fun of it

TopGear.com Reveals The Stig Is Actually Graham Hill
It seems that the Telegraph was wrong in their recent article. TopGear.com has come out to officially reveal that the Stig is none of other than dead legendary racer Graham Hill! Turns out his death in the 1970’s was actually faked and he’s been hiding out in a bush ever since.
They also revealed that the chairman of crisis-hit Royal Bank of Scotland, Sir Tom McKillop as well as Barack Obama have also taken turns portraying the Stig.
Most shocking of all though is a scandal that has surfaced in which Clarkson has been exposed as a big liar after claiming that the Stig had magnetic knees. Turns out it isn’t true according to a smart scientist. Shame on you Clarkson for lying to us all.

There Are Eight Stigs - the story that won't go away
From WCF...
The identity of the Stig is a story that simply won't die and according to the latest reports from the UK eight drivers have donned the white suit and helmet to portray Top Gear's legendary speed demon.
While two of the Stigs were not named in the Daily Mail's article, one of them reportedly spilled the beans and told the reporter who else has played the infamous driver. Among the many Stigs he named are F1 drivers Heikki Kovalainen and Julian Bailey, former GT world championship driver Chris Goodwin, stunt drivers Terry Grant and Russ Swift, and Swede Dan Lang who preformed a snow mobile jump in the show's winter Olympic special.
While it does make sense that a variety of Stigs are needed to film certain stunts, it seems slightly odd that there are so many of them. With Clarkson's mocking of the recent round of speculation, don't expect any official comment from the Top Gear hosts or the BBC anytime soon.

Michael Schumacher was unmasked as the BBC car programme Top Gear's mysterious 'The Stig' on tonight’s episode of the long-running show. The enigmatic white-overalled, gloved and helmeted figure, who for years has anonymously tested cars for the TV show, appeared on the floor of the British programme after breaking its test-track record at the wheel of the Ferrari FXX supercar.
Asked by host Jeremy Clarkson to take off his helmet, The Stig reluctantly obliged, revealing F1's now 40-year-old seven time world champion Schumacher. Clarkson jokingly asked the famous German what his name was before he became famous as The Stig, but Schumacher answered: "You have to have some secrets".
However, the true identity of The Stig was unmasked by the press earlier this year as 33-year-old Ben Collins, although the speculation was not confirmed by the BBC and it remains rumoured that the character is actually played by multiple drivers.
A spokesman for the British broadcaster, meanwhile, confirmed that Schumacher was The Stig for the Ferrari segment, but that otherwise the truth would remain "a mystery”.
