Happy to see him go, he was a nobody. Same goes for our former owner (Linder) These new owners seem to like baseball, unlike him. We've been needing a change for a while. Although it is kind of a strange time to fire him...but the rumor always was that one of the assistants has the brains, so I'm kind of thinking he's our future GM, maybe now or down the road a bit.

even though he cant hit for shit I like the gonzalez pickup.. one year, cheap contract.. All of a sudden the infield defense and CF is nasty
Snow (forget youk for a sec)
Lowell
Loretta
Gonzalez
Crisp
that aint bad... and Pedroia and Cora are good defensively too. and if David Murphy can get healthy he is a nasty defensive CF/4th outfielder
besides the lack of hitting I like the options there... can always trade one of those guys logged up at 2nd/short for some help too.
not bad theo and co., not bad

Pete, they picked up a 4th out fielder (Dustan Mohr) to replace Gabe Kapler as insurance untill Murphy can come up from the minors...
With Pedroia, Graffinino, and Loretta, Cora, and Gonzalez for SS and 2nd, we've got some depth (maybe trade bait)...
Seems like the team is pretty much in place for spring training (18 more days till catchers and pitchers report).
Manny is going to stay put... Rumors have it that his wife wanted Manny out of boston, but Manny likes it here (close to his girlfriends)... Manny asked the sox to trade him, Sox tried, so now Manny can tell the wife, "Hey, look, I tried, but we're stuck here"
Wells will be in a sox uniform untill at least spring training.
Not sure if anyone else is going to get traded, but Clement's name comes up often...
Overall, I like what I see....

Sox apparently sign Mohr to minor league deal
Any day now, the Sox will announce the addition of former Rockie Dustan Mohr, who has been signed to a minor league contract. Mohr, 29, managed a career-high 17 homers in just 266 at-bats last year. But, he hit 13 of those at Coors Field and batted just .214, a season after hitting .274 with a .394 on-base percentage in 117 games with San Francisco. Mohr has played predominantly in right field and figures to contend for the team's fourth outfield spot. If he makes the club, Mohr could spell Trot Nixon against lefthanded starting pitchers.

I just read in the newspaper that Adam Dunn broke his hand twice last year, but wouldn't let them treat it so he just played through the pain
Crazy mofo...only missed three games last year and one in '04.
The first time somebody stepped on it on a pickoff move, then he got hit by a pitch....

Dombrowski? Nah, he put together a nice squad when we won in 97. I believe he helped build the strike shortened Expos as well that had the best record in the majors that year. He's the GM at Detroit now. Let's see how he does his 2nd year now that Leyland is back.
