Beautiful Lake Shots
I always loved photography, but never got into until now. I have almost never edited pictures before, but I am familiar with Photoshop since I've been doing web design for 5 years. Anyways, gotta thank my girlfriend for getting me my Canon Rebel XT. Shot with 18-55mm kit lense with SunPak ultraviolet filter (came with the camera). I'm at the very beginning stages of learning about ISO, aperture, white balance, etc. Photoshop work is very minimal since I had midterms all week, just some S-curve editing. I did do a quick job cut out of my girlfriend to make her stand out more, very sloppy but hey I tried.
Shot at a local park in Irvine, George Manson Park. I always drive by it since its a block away from UCI. Went one day with my girlfriend and wow. It's a very beautiful park and a lot of ducks and other animals around. Best part is that its very deserted. Enough said, onto the pictures. Harsh criticism is encouraged as well as tips.

Would love to see the pics, left window open 10 minutes nothing loaded. Host pics to photobucket so we can see them.

Nice and balanced, not too tight as to be crowded.

I think I would have reversed the color of your logo on some of the pics, since
you can't see it on some.
I wonder, for those of you who put logos, are you aware of the logo when
you shoot? Do you make room for the logo subsconsiously, so that it doesn't
cover up anything in the picture? (like how it slighly overruns the arm in #2?)

Great shots. I really like the very last one. The water looks so soft in that shot. Very nice.
And btw your girlfriend is hot.

All pics look good! You can try to take pics at different angle or different view other than normal standing position and see if they come out good or better. Picture of duck, lake, nice sky at the duck level might look interesting.

thanks for the comments, the tweaking in photoshop did help since some pictures were too orange because of the sun. i wish i could have gotten the ducks facing left or right in the blue picture... i wasn't planning to put a logo, but thought why not. i'm going back to this lake to take more pictures... practice makes perfect.
next subject would probably be my car since i'm due for a photoshoot, hopefully it doesn't turn out like shit.
and thank you, she is hot, and i'm one lucky bastard

Great shots - nice framing.
As far as your PP, the pics have an interesting "feel" to them. This may have been intentional and works. However, one of the great things about late afternoon shots IS the amber/orange tones you get from the sun. I'd be interested in seeing the pre-processed versions of a couple shots.

yeah these were taken 1-2 hours before the sun set. didn't stay for the sun set since there were no clouds in the sky... plus from this park, the sun doesn't "set" it's just blocked by some houses haha

This is ramblings, you have to have thicker skin than that. He's harmless, plus 90% of what he types is going to make you laugh.

pics are pretty good. you might need to play around with it more to get a feel for the correct WB settings, since the coloration looks a little off.
In my 4 years at UCI, i've never been to that park. Looks nice though.

And 90% of what he types is about him jacking off!
OP, I like the last picture. Very clean and simple. Colors in the water are nice, and the exposure looks good (from what I know... which isn't much)

Your girlfriend is hot.
I'm sure you know that by now.
Oh and your pictures look good. I don't really have any constructive criticism to give you, since I've been out of the photography loop for a month or two, but the pictures look great.
Oh and don't worry about Whiskers. He's harmless. The others are right. You better have thicker skin if you're gonna wander around ramblings. Wouldn't be surprised if a mod laughed at your PM.
