Hey guys, I'm thinking of picking up a 2004 Honda Pilot for $6500 from a friend of mine and I was just wondering what you guys thought.
The good:
Trasmission replaced within the year
Timing belt and water pump replaced at the same time
Struts replaced within two months, freshly aligned because of that.
Brand new tires within a few weeks
Runs and drives very good
The bad:
It has 185,000 miles
Paint is oxidized and swirled which would need lots of work
Interior isn't horrible but needs shampooed
Pilot's only get 18MPG on average..
The price is super cheap and I would like the super smooth ride. What do you guys think?

Base A-Spec on a Type-S...right? Did you need to make any modifications to the lip or bumper when you installed. About to order my kit but don't want to have to make any mods before I get to install..otherwise I will just order an 04 front lip and get it molded since it looks way better IMO.

Pilot is a good SUV, though I don't think the first generation had VTM-4 which to me is one of the main reasons to buy it. An SUV without some sort of 4 wheel drive feels worthless. We got rid of our Pilot just because of the gas bill. With our Jetta Wagon as the family car our gas bill at an average of $4.25/gal still costs less than our Pilot did at 2.75/gal. Though I do miss the space of the pilot and the VTM-4 for snow or mountain days
Is the Jetta stock or have you modded it at all? =)
Our house is scheduled to be completed by November 15, so maybe after that I'll mod again, but odds are that I wont and instead will sell the TSX to pick up something more fuel efficient like a Golf TDI or something. Gas prices are excruciating right now and by the looks of it won't come down much more given we're heading into peak travel season and the record shows that after the summer gas prices drop a little but not much since they end up getting the profit they are after anyways lol.
^ Just up the road from me..see ya around more hopefully.
Bet blue is happy school is out..I dunno where you live exactly but did you see/hear that block party a few weeks back? Lots of fun watching it get shut down..lol

which party.. for the last 2 weeks of school there was always a party.. and thirsty thursday.. AKA pub crawl (dont get me started on that) is one of the worst things.. honestly though when school starts and halloween those are worse due to kids not knowing there limits, then its calm for a bit due to colder weather then come spring is when it picks up again.. im hoping this is our last year.. got half the basement done now so technically i can move out as fast as i can find a renter but i want to finish the second half so i dont have to deal with it later..
Haha a few buddies of mine got an actual permit for a block party so if you were close you woulda seen/heard the crowd. Took up van houten between willamette and Harvard..lol
And def get the basement done..with so many more kids at UP now shouldn't be hard to find renters and the basement could be another room

basement has a room already plus a bonus room and a bathroom.. the other half will have a large space that is usuable as a living room or whatever plus a closet.. so now our house officially has 3 bed plus bonus and 2 bath.. know anyone that will be looking to rent?? =)
block party must of been before 10 PM anything after and it would of been shutdown due to noise unless by some miracle they were quiet.. but thats near my area and i didnt hear anything

Haha yea like 7 patrol cars at one point shut it down before 10.
And dunno anyone who is looking but you should talk to office of student affairs and get some flyers up in some of the buildings particularly the pilot house

you have to modify the lip and do some measuring for the zip tie holes for the bumper... its doable just take your time and try not to scratch up the bumper when you do trial and error fitment.
the area where it meets the fogs on top has to be filed down. if you want PM me and i can show you how its done, and you can look at the lip on my car
which lip you end up buying?
