Was the Stig hurting for money that bad that he authorized an autobiography while still working on the show? Just like CocheseUGA said, it's been speculation for 2 year that it may be Ben, but never confirmed. That's a huge part of the show and he wants to tell his story now and thinks the Stig can still be part of the characteristic of the show, especially after they killed off the first Stig launching him off an aircraft carrier because his identity was compromised?

 

The Stig's identity has been known for some time, it was just never confirmed by the BBC, Top Gear, or Collins himself.

Now that he is stepping forward and confirming it, he'll probably most definitely be fired. too bad. he was good. I wonder who will be the next stig....

i saw one episode where Top Gear revealed the Stig and it was Michael Schumacher. don't tell me he was only a guest appearance????

i thought so! i only watch the show on youtube and only the best scenes where they actually test current cars and not tanks, trucks, old old cars from junk yards, or do stupid stunts with chopped off cars or buses, etc.....

I am quite sure that there was a breach of contract somewhere here. In order to be the Stig, I'm sure the contract says you have to keep quiet about it. In return... £,£££,£££ <-----those are British pounds if you don't know what that symbol is.

 

I remember an article a few years ago about some contractors doing work on Collins house and they found the stig suit in his closet. THeyw ent to the media, and the story published that collins was the stig, but he, BBC and TopGear denied it. Then, last year I think, some art gallery outted him.

back on topic, i like the Stig....bec. we don't know who he is and he's always cool while driving, listening to music, minding his own business....

 

James may already hinted that they are killing off the stig, but we knew this was coming as soon as the stig was officially revealed.

 

Yeah, the first time I drove my fiancee's car, I noticed the signs of warped brake rotors. I asked her how long it had been that way and she was like "oh, I don't know, it's been a while." She didn't seem that concerned. Needless to say, I had new rotors on there pretty soon afterwards.

However, I really have to give her credit because she'll remember when her car needs an oil change and remind me if I forgot. She's learning.

Well, you're not a "recognized icon" if nobody knows who you really are!

 

That's the beauty of it....you're known all over except nobody harasses you at the grocery store or asks you for your autograph. This guy blew a great gig.

 

What a tool. I'm very interested to see how the show goes after this.

I think the whole show would be compromised if they didn't have a Stig come back but then again it's hard to throw someone else in the suit and still call him "The Stig".

I still can't believe he revealed himself though. I'm so disappointed.
