hope I screwed up the nav disc

and not the nav

For reasons I won't bother with I had a pair of summer wheels with tires in the trunk for a bit and I think they bounced around and hit the nav.

Started yesterday and it'd just have the Acura nav screen and wouldn't go past that point. Took the disc out when I got home and it had some stuff on it. Wiped it off and put it back in. It worked then, got the code in and everything worked except the directions voice. Really scratchy and garbled sounding so I figured it was the disc.

Today however it's pretty random. It'll get to the code screen and not register the buttons. Or it will and it'll act like it's reconnecting but wouldn't go. I didn't actually have the engine running and it was in the garage (both against what the screen says) I let it sit and it wouldn't go so even though I didn't want to I started it and pulled out. Couldn't get to the code screen again.

Anybody dealt with anything similar? Going to start by ordering a new disc (I was due anyway)

Did you check the connects on the back of the unit in the trunk? Perhaps something is loose?

When my iPod adapter was dieing, it would cloud the bus with junk which would cause the Navi to stop responding. Disconnecting the Navi cable from the head unit revealed the exact same behavior. The display worked, but I couldn't control it, and the voice for the directions didn't work either (I assume the connector handles data I/O and audio).

I second checking the connections on the back of the Navi unit. Disconnect all and then re-connect and see what happens.

Well that may have done it.....or not. Last night the last time I tried I did disconnect and reconnect them and it seemed to start but wouldn't go anywhere. I gave up for the time being and came in to search here. This morning it was doing the same for the 30 minute trip to work. 2 minutes before I got there it responded and worked as it should. Making various trips home today I had to start the car 3 times and all 3 it worked fine.

Hope that was the issue because the disc did look fine. Thanks guys.

well, so much for that. Randomly getting a blank screen, acura nav screen or the code entry screen that won't respond to touch. It did once and then it was fine. Anybody know (Going to search the forum as well) if the current nav discs work with the 1st gen? The service guy will let me try but he didn't know.

Did you mess with anything else? Like your storage compartment under the stereo?

Keep us posted

If the disk is the same color as your current disk, I believe it should work.
