Alrighty. Just had my car detailed by http://www.giasdetailing.com/ - fantastic job. They're located in Holbrook NY - exit 57 off the LIE - honestly, if you're looking for a perfect job, go to them. The owner, Anthony is a great guy and takes great pride in his work. If anyone is interested in pics, I'll post them.

If you can't tell, this is for the Nassau/Suffolk portion of NY.

I was just going to find Rick's information in Burlington. He is by far the most talented detailer I have ever seen. Absolutely give him a call.

I'm not sure about his prices but it's worth it in the end!

I'm interested in a detailer in south Orange County, CA. I just bought a black, 2009 TSX and the dealer swirled the heck out of the paint at delivery. Also, what's a reasonable price for a full detail?

There's an OC detailer listed on the first page. It really depends what's defined as a full detail. Every detailer has a different definition of a full detail so it's really up to what you want done to your vehicle. Also, pricing is not uniform across all detailers so your best bet is to find a detailer that's in your price range.

It all depends on the quality of the work. I'd wanna say $200-300 for a high quality interior/exterior detail. The guy I posted for Chicago charges $260 for his full package.

Glad to see this thread is still alive and kickin!

I wish i could find a good detailer in CT --- i could never just look through a phone book and pick someone to trust with the restoration of my car...

Most of the places here dont do much full detailing ... a wash/scrub, and wax seems all they know. Or like many business they lie and say they involve more than what they actually do.

I do it myself (actually in the process right now, wash, clay, polish, polish, wax, wax) --- but i dont have the patience for the extreme details like in and around emblems, crevices, etc...

would much rather pay a professional to do a good job.

---

That ZR1 came out gorgeous, I actually looked where he was located in mass --- 200+ miles is way to far.

They look like hacks to me. I mean look at that website. It's not even close to professional especially considering what they charge.

youve got to be kidding me...

Im sure THESE guys love the camera, but they look like they take their business as a joke posing in all those pictures.. what they should be doing is less posing and more showing off the "straight detail" of their work.

$260 for a full high quality detail??? tough business. if it takes a minimum of 6 hours and likely more since a car coming in for a detail is likely to need considerable correction (clay plus 2 grades of polish), you are looking at around $30/hour. Considering costs and no benefits, that's what I call slave labor. I would think a minimum of $500 for a 6-8 hour job would be more reasonable, especially if it brings the car back to better than showroom condition.

like I said, a job like that is worth more than $260. If you figure a new paint job on that car would exceed $2k, he's under charging for his level of skill.

scottwax.com said he'd wash, clay, 1 polishing step and wax or sealant for $100. Additional polishing steps (if needed or desired) would be more. This sound like a good deal?

Also I'm guessing I should get maybe 1 more polishing step? And by step he means layers right?

That sounds about right. My 1-step's usually start at $150 in my area.

A polishing step isn't a layer actually. Usually there's a 1-step, 2-step, or 3-step or multi-step. 1-step is generally defined as a light polish of the vehicle. A 2-step is generally considered as a medium polish followed by a light polish of the vehicle. A 3-step or multi-step is generally considered as a compound followed by a medium polish followed by a light polish of the vehicle.

It really depends on the condition of your paint. If you've never had your car professional detailed with paint correction, it's probably very likely you'll need a two-step. However, it's up to you if you want to pay for it and if you'll really notice a difference. Most of my clients generally do notice the difference and usually get a 2-step at minimum if they have their car detailed.
