acura 2003 cl type s estimated gas mileage
Hi all,
I'm thinking of getting rid of my 4cyl v tec 95 accord with 265 k (run on mobil 1 synthetic) for a 03 type s cl. Can anyone advise on real time city/hwy gas mileage?
Thanks,
Lee

http://www.fueleconomy.gov lists the 2003 automatic at 17/27 and the 6spd at 17/26. Those numbers are by the new EPA rating stardards, and what I normally see in my car...
We've got a few members who will report more than at (and less than that) but those are extreme cases and not the norm.
I get 23 mpg doing 80 mph in my daily commute with includes some stop an go traffic on the highway, and 26mpg (last 2 tankfuls) when I bring it down to 60 mph.... trying out some hypermiling techniques...
I've gotten 28-29 mpg once on a long road trip, but usually I'm in the 23-26 mpg range.
So if you're looking for great gas mileage, the CL isn't bad for a car with 260hp, but it's probably not as good as a 4 banger accord...
edit: oh, and welcome to the forum !!

I get about the same mileage in my 03 CL-S 6MT as I do in my 97 Prelude, in the high 20's on average.
I have been able to get as good as 32.5 mpg in the CL-S with about a 50/50 mix of highway and back roads but there is some trickery involved.

Depends 100% on how the car is driven. If I am leadfooted I get 15/20 If I am good I get 20/30. I average 19/26.
Beats the hell out of the 9/12 I get in my '94 Landcruiser!

I've got a 01 CL-S. I just took mine on a 300 mile highway drive and got 28-29 miles to the gallon and that was crusing 75-80mph.
Not as good as my 07 tsx (32-34 mpg) but not too bad.

dang I dunno how you guys manage to let anything under 19 city....and some of that highway milage is low...........26mpg?
on the highway even in the winter time I get a minimum of 31 and in the summer it's 32-33 with the ac on driving an average of 72
my mixed driving averages about 24.5 mpg i get 21 in the city..........
I guess that it really is true driving habits are everything..... keeping it under 2.5K on the tach when accellerating GOES A LONG WAY to keeping ur city milage up IMHO
btw I drive an 02 type S with 68K on it

i average around 24 mpg on my regular commute throughout the week, literally it's like clockwork. When i take longer trips which are mostly cruising on the highway, i'll usually get around 28-29. I averaged 31.4 mpg on a trip once, one tank there, and one on the way back. But i was definitely trying to squeeze as much mpg as i could, though at one point i was messing around w/ someone in a corvette, and we were obviously burning some gas then. No racing, but we were driving spiritedly.

I drove 225 miles all together this weekend for the 4th. I averaged 27mpg. Normal driving to work 15 miles each day I get 23mpg.
My car is a stock 02 CL-Type S with regular valvoline oil soon to be switched to Mobil 1 Synthetic
