Replacing OEM D2S bulbs
Hello all-
Has anyone ever replaced their factory D2S bulbs with another manufacturer's? I know Acura uses Stanley bulbs as OEM but I have an '07 TL and wondered if replacing mine with a Philips D2S bulb would provide any upgrade (considering Philips is one of the better bulb makers). Also like halogen's, do HID bulbs ever lose any degree of brightness over time/as they age?
Thanks guys!

yes HID bulbs change color and lose brightness with age,
near the end they usually turn pink or purple on initial startup- then failure comes.
Kaixen is a popular brand with gen2- where many ziners have a lot of hours on 10 year old lights and needed new~
4300k is stock color, many prefer 5000k with more blue and still good white, 6000k too blue but liked by many, and above 6 is not worth trying to see at night with!

I just swiched to the Philips 85...+..whatever bulb on my 04TL and they are crazy bright. I would say easily a third brighter than stock. I got them at http://store.theretrofitsource.com/index.php And I had a local VW specialty shop do the install. They gave me an intial quote of $30 to $60, I told them I hear that it's quite extensive, etc and they are prob quoting me to little. No joke, 2 hours later the guy comes out to the waiting room sweating like a whore in church telling me it's done. They were super cool about the whole thing and just told me to pay $65 and swore that he'd never do another Acura headlight job again.

I ended up taking my bumper off and even had to take out the housing a bit to get my hand to be able to maneuver to put in the new bulb. It's not easy, but it's not difficult either, just time consuming.

Still valid, really. First link or second link, depending if you want to do it the Acura way or the crafty way by the wheel well. Topic has been beaten to death already.

I don't recall removing the battery making it any easier to access, for me at least. That's why I went through the trouble of taking the bumper off and then unscrewing the headlight assembly enough to move it.

I tried to do the passenger side and drivers side through the wheel well and it wasn't working out for me. I got frustrated and just ended up removing my bumper and taking the headlights out.
I spent so long trying to do both drivers and passenger side through that wheel well that now I have condensation in my headlights. I was able to remove the bulb (it was hard) but couldn't put the new bulb back in and clip in place.
I probably spent a good 30 minutes on both sides and gave up and took the bumper off
