2004 ACURA TL AC blows warm air after driving for about 5-10 mins

The AC blows ICE cold air when the engine is cold, but after driving the car for about 5-10 minutes, it starts to blow warm air and it seems to shut off the compressor. I took it to a mechanic and said that the frean is not low. I live in FL and the heat is killing me. I really apprciate any help!

Are you leaving the outside vent on? Try hitting the recirc button. I also live in FL and feel for you. My house A/C went out last week during the heat wave for 3 days........

Thanks for the reply. I guess ac problems always pop at the worst time!! I have tried turning the recirc on and off, but doesn't seem to make a difference. The ac will blow cold only when the engine is cold. Once the engine is hot, it only blows warm air even while setting the AC to the lowest. Someone suggested that the evaporator temp sensor might be shutting off the ac because it thinks the evaporating is freezing, but I don't know how to test for that and how to fix it.

Possibly evaporator coil freeze up.

First, make sure you're using the outside air, not recirculate, then turn the A/C off for maybe 10-15 minutes, then back on again. Does it blow cold again? When was the last time you changed your cabin filter? If it is too dirty, it will impede the flow of air across the coil which can promote freeze up.

SouthenBoy, yes, am using the outside air. If I turn off the A/C for 10-15mins and turn it back on, it wouldn't blow cold air. The only time it starts to blow cold air is in either in the morning or after the car is idel at least for few hour.
Regarding a cabin filter, I have never changed it. How easy is it to change the cabin filter?
I had the battery replaced this past weakend and my AC problem started after that, but thats probably a pure concidence.

Check this thread re: compressor pressure issue: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/2005-air-conditioning-compressor-729575/

You might want to PM the OP in that thread regarding the repair and possible price. G/L.

Derk's K24, my coolant level is close to the Minumim level line. Can I just top it off with a coolant or should I take it to a shop and have them flush and put a new coolant?

I changed my cabin filter and it was really dirty. I also took it to another AC tech yesterday and the compressor wasn't running and it was blowing warm air. However, this morning, it was blowing cold air again as the engine is cold after being idel overnight and comprosser is back running.

So did replacing the filter fix it? Or did the tech do something? As I have the same problem now..

Also just to make sure its the same issue, mine will start out cold then gradually about 15 minutes later get hotter and hotter, but if I turn off the AC for about 5 minutes, Its cold again for another 5-10.

UPDATE: Welp I just got the car back yesterday and they could not find what it was as it was not reoccuring, although they did check the refrigerant levels and they were fine, also checked the temperature sensor which was fine, and the compressor itself was fine, but hey who knows maybe something was just needing to be reseated or pushed in more who knows but so far its working.

So what did they do to fix it? My 05 TL I'd experiencing the same thing with the driver side blowing cold n the passenger blowing hot. Dual on n off. I took been researching so much. Took it the passenger side of dash apart. Unplugged harnesses and fuses out of fuse boxes. It's still the same. Replaced the cabin air filter. It was dirty. Just want cold air. It's hot I texas

There is a TSB in another thread regarding moisture in the system. The solution as I recall was to draw the system down and recharge it with fresh r134a. turns out that the expansion valve was icing up causing the A/C to quit and then waiting 10 or so mins you could turn it on and it would blow cold until the valve iced up again.
