Pressed the gas pedal, car wouldn't accelerate...

So I'm driving at 30mph and I go to accelerate, and my car won't move. I floor the car, but it just wouldn't accelerate. I let go of the pedal and tried to accelerate and again nothing. Tried it a third time and finally the car kicked forward and I was on my way. I tried to duplicate it, but nothing. O man, I hope this doesn't mean tranny #3.

I have about 60k miles. The first tranny went at around 35-40k miles.

Dark Inspire- Strangely enough, the car didn't even rev. It was as if I wasn't even pressing the pedal. Freaked me out considering it was a busy road and the car behind me had to switch lanes to avoid hitting me.

Are any of the lights on the dashboard on? If the revs didn't go up, it dosn't sound like a tranny problem.

yeah, in that case it sounds like a loose connection, because usually when the tranny is slipping it'll rev but won't go.

Lights on the dashboard dont necessarily indicate whether your tranny is going or not, my last tranny went w/out a single light.

if it is the transmission then when you hit the gas, the car will rev but wont go anywhere, if it just doesnt rev it could be a throttle cable, and check the car at idle for any abnormalities, could be a misifire but i doubt it

I'm having the same problem!

Was it, in fact, the cable throttle?? My car does the same thing. I'll press the gas, and the car doesn't accelerate. The RPMs drop down like I'm just coasting. Downshifting and flooring it doesn't help, then after about 5-7 seconds it'll start to go again. Then if I let off the gas and press again, the same thing happens. I've brought my car to 2 dealers now and they all said they couldn't duplicate it, and therefore couldn't do anything about it. It doesn't do it all the time but when it starts to do it, it'll do it every time I let off the gas. Now I'm trying to troubleshoot it myself so I can bring it back to another dealer with some possibilities in mind. HELP!

go to a parts store and get the codes checked for free

remove the plastic engine cover and inspect throttle cable assembly
where it attaches to the TB- have been several cars break a plastic collar on that and jam the throttle

if you have someone look at it- You take them on a drive, you know how and when it acts up
More when engine cold or hot? or the same etc
