CL tweeter pods in a 2nd gen TL?
Has anyone ever tried using the CL tweeter housings on a TL? Any pictures? If they do not fit perfectly, how close are they? It might be easier to start with those as a base and modify them for the TL. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul

I'm moving this to 2G TL for you.

I had the same idea. So did some others. Someone even posted on the CL forum but got no reply. I got as far as finding the OEM part, but didn't want to spend the money to find out since I want to do all my engine/appearance mods before touching stereo.
I'd say they'd be highly likely to fit.

It looks like the pod cover is a seperate piece. Depending on the mounting depth of the tweeters, you might be able to create a TL/CL mirror sail hybrid.
Whatcha think?

I don't think it'd fit. Isn't the rake of the windshield steeper on the TL? Even if you got them on there, it seems there'd be a gap or something.
Not to mention the wiring and electrical stuff. Not worth the hastle to me.

IMO the TL does not need tweeters. The Bose system seems to produce a full soundstage without needing actual tweeters. It was custom designed to the TL, after all.
Lots of people on this board hate the Bose system, but I love it. Compared to the stock system in my 05 Accord V6 and the one in the Camry, it's tons better. I listen to easy-listening and I don't need window-shattering bass, nor do I have any desire to spend even minimal amounts of money on anything the car doesn't need. And I HATE the aftermarket look with a passion, especially the way the flashy headunits clash with the luxury interior.

I listen entirely to classical and talk radio, and it sounds wonderful to me. No complaints whatsoever.

Thanks for all the input. I might just suck it up and go for some nice Focal coaxials in the door. Much less hassle

Lots of people will accuse us of "falling for Bose marketing" but that's truly not the case for me. Back in 96 I test drove a Maxima SE with the Bose package, and I took along a CD of mine - I was instantly sold. I didn't buy the car, but I loved the sound system. My dream is to own a Maybach 62 for it's 21 speaker, 600w Bose system.
Oh well, off the soapbox I go.

SSTS,
I have a friend who is the install manager at a local audio shop. Looks like 165CV1's for front and back will run me around $400can. I was thinking about using some Boston Accoustics pro series seperates I have hanging around, but the Focals will be much more simple in the end.
