Unhappy Installing LED strip lights under headlights???

I have a 2005 Acura TL and i just got the really thin LED strip lights that shine in front instead of the top side. I could squeeze the led strips between the headlight and bumper but I'm totally lost to where I could find the parking light wiring. Does any one have any threads or instructions or even pictures that they have after they installed their grill or led's in their TL's.

I went to a guy that installs everything and he's charging $100 to remove bumper and then install it. Thats too much money for it and I rather do it myself.

Taking off the bumper is pretty easy, DIY. But I saw here on PR a 08WRX with the strip outside the headlight and IMO someone can come and rip them off the headlights, cut them, etc.. and beside it looked cheap. So I would recommend to do thing right and contact JnC or DIY the headlights LED's

I did mine inside the headlights. We wired them up to the green wire of the windshield wipers. The green wire is constantly hot. But sorry, no DIY. The wiring cluster is next to the firewall.

I wired mine to the parking light. Here is the link to the DIY. I have redone the strips by installing them from behind the grill but the wiring is the same. Good Luck.

Rafiton: I would so agree with you to just contact Jnc and get it done nicely but I've just had insane problems in the passwith change out headlights with my 97 honda accord and I don't want that to happen to my tl. The mod's do look hot though

steven bell: I saw your threads before and mod looks hot

Zsameer: I like the way you did the wiring but I'm still lost in some places.

1. I saw that the right led wiring on pic 9... i see three wires.. how did you connect the ground wire and the other two wires you taped it through the positive line on the left side that you originalled taped into? I'm sorry but the wiring is just confusing..seems like a few you left out a few steps.

There are only two wires there one is the cable for the hood latch. Negative wire was grounded and i brought the positive from the passenger side where i tapped into the red wire and tapped the positve to that. Hope this helps.

I'm doing a clearing \ smoking chrome \ LED strip pject this weekend. I'm doing something very similar to Steven Bell with the same type of strips, but I think I might run it up the inside of the light as well. We shall see...

I'll see if I can snap some pics of the green wire as I also want to give it power this way.

Of course, I forgot to take a pic of teh green wire, but there's a perfect pic which I used to find it in a post about installing the DRL module on the 04-06. Search for that post and it will point you to the green wire. It works perfectly!

Here's one for now from the meet today. Going outside to take some more pics now!

P.S. Like everyone always says, they're not that blue in real life. I actually ordered the neutral white because 1. I figured with the OEM bulbs, the neutral was best and 2. The cool white was back ordered for weeks and I'm impatient.

Alright, well this is the best I can do with my shitty P&S camera and the current lighting conditions outside.

I'll try and take some more at dusk, and maybe at night if I remember.

Bumper on to bumper off took 6.5 hours which included a quick lunch break, 2 trips to the auto parts store, and 15 minutes of cursing after I didn't realize I had silicone on my right forearm and I got into my car and put my arm down on the arm rest, then had to clean it....lol

btw is it hard to install?? this is going to be my first time doing my own car.

No, the resistors are for the turn signals-if you want to add switchback bulbs.

^^^ It probably is-I'm not sure how to wire that up, but I'm not sure if you'd really want to do that. I'm not sure that's the best look.....

Yep that is how I have my setup, with my own twist. Switchbacks with amber LEDs replacing the chrome strip. I went the halo route so white strips would be a bit much. This is the best of all worlds.

Steven Bell, great job on the lights! where did you decide to draw the power from? and i know this will sound dumb, but do the LEDs always stay hot? or do you have the acc on?

Thanks...we wired them up to the windshield wipers! There is a green wire to the wipers on the firewall-we tapped in to that.

I wanted them so they are on with both the DRL's and the headlights too. So yes, they are always on. They look great in both daylight and night time.

I know the wiper motor wire is constant power when the ignition is on. That would be your positive and any grounding metal point would be your negative.

There's probably better methods like through the fuse box or closer wires.

Would you know by any chance where the wiper fuse be located? I'll try stay away from wiring to inside the car. Is there an ignition wire or wiper wire under the hood?

^^^ Against the firewall, there are some wires sheathed together. Strip the sheathing and find the green wire. That is the windshield wiper wire-tap into that.

^ or use an 'Add a Fuse' and tap into the fuse block under the hood near air cleaner- that's what I did.
