P2227 Barometric Pressure (BARO) Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Problem

everytime i tried to floor the gas pedal the rpm stuck at around 4-5k rpm with extremely slow acceleration and then the vsa light came on. I got a p2227 baro sensor problem. Can some one please help me with this?

If the baro sensor is the same as the MAP sensor, the car is probably going into limp mode. It uses this sensor for air/fuel calculations. This sensor is a major player in calculating airflow and load on the engine so without it the ECU goes into limp mode. I would check the connection at the sensor and if that's ok and since they're cheap I would replace it. There is a more detailed diagnosis you can get into via the repair manual.

hum? i thought the baro sensor was inside the pcm?
well either way check the intake system( pipes, clogged airfilter etc).
i discovered a shopping bag infront of the airfilter causing the same code

going to bump this thread because i just got the same problem.

the check engine light just came on a couple days ago and i got a reading from autozone saying it's a P2227 error. i checked the air filter and nothing is blocking it and nothing looks out of the ordinary under the hood.

i tested revving the engine and it was slow to accelerate and stopped around 5k. before it jumps to 5k it felt like there was a light jerk. the car just came out of the dealer with a transmission swap too, but i don't think the two are related after reading about this p2227 error.

can someone define what "limp mode" is? i'm just trying to get a better idea if this is something i can fix on my own or should i just bring it into the dealer. and if i do bring it in, i want to have a better understanding of what they need to fix.

thanks!

You can't test it by just sitting and revving the engine. In that case, even with no faults, the engine won't rev over 5k rpm.

"Limp Mode" is a protective mode the car goes into for certain faults. The idea is to give you just enough to get to a repair facility.

In limp mode rpm is limited; there may be a few other things as well, such as no manual/paddle shifing, etc, but I'm not sure what all of the limited systems are.

Weird, but a few days after my post, the light went off by itself and didn't come back on since..
