Question Why does the RPM drop at 55 mph?

I can't find info on this anywhere. I have a 2011 TSX base AT5 and the RPMs drop at a specific speed (55 mph). It happens in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear. Does anyone else experience the same thing or know what causes it? It's not a new thing so I figured all TSXs have it but I want to know for sure.

This. It's especially annoying and obvious when you're in WOT.

Torque converter locks to the input shaft eliminating torque converter slip and improving gas mileage. Not much downside.

good luck

Well I'm glad to know that it's designed to do that but damn it sucks to floor it in 3rd gear. I could understand it happening in 5th gear but it just feels weird when it happens in 3rd gear when you're trying to go fast. And it doesn't really matter on what RPM it's at, it'll happen at almost exactly 55 mph and it drops my RPM down to about 3500 RPM and then continue to rise from there.

Keep it in sport mode for those fun drives. It will hold the revs but won't do much for your mpg.

I would consider it but I have an attachment to my car. It has so many flaws and minor issues but it's the car I've had the most adventures in.
