Bad. How many miles?

I have the same knock on my right side with slight vibration at freeway speed. Since I'm still under warranty I took it to the dealer and they confirmed that it's a bad axles. Only issue is that they are on national backorder and I'm stuck waiting for the part to be available. In the meantime I have a slight vibration at freeway speed and a knocking sound pulling into my driveway. I guess it can be worse.

I had vibration under brisk acceleration which went away at cruising speed. Yup, first thing dealer wanted to do was replace the tire. I also have non-oem alloy wheels, so they suspected that too. I said no; it would be a waste of time, vibration only happens under acceleration, and that on this forum, people reported similar experiences. Mine happened around 55k miles. Got the axles replaced under the powertrain warranty. One of the bushings also had a small tear, so I had them replace that too but with my own dime.

TSX Wagon is running very smoothly now.

Mine look fine at 40k. Seems like the right axle cannot handle the load for some reason. Wagons are heavier by about 150lbs, but that shouldn't matter.

My dealer also tried to tell me it was my tire balance but I escalated the issue to the GM. Funny thing is don't they want to make money!?!? I would still pay the diag fee and Honda would reimburse if under warranty. Funny how they think everyone is an idiot except them. Number one customer service tip is to listen to your client.

I think the dealer techs are trained to use a systematic checklist. They will listen to the customer, but only if we insist (having done research on these forums).

Agree ; I know it's the axel i've been driving Acura for over 12 years ...I changed the axel on my Type R 4 times ....Only Oem or raxels will do ...I'm cover under warranty ,I wanna do this before it gets worst ; so I will install my new summers rims ,have them look at the car again with me present ,then I'm gonna insist they do the axel ...with new axels the vibration will be gone ...they won't be able to deny it was the axels ; inevitably covering it under warranty

I'm sure they are. IMO, it's pretty simple to listen to your customer to see if they are knowledgeable before choosing to follow protocol.

I am also noticing vibrations when accelerating and even cruising, especially on the highway. Very noticeable at times in the steering wheel. Also, probably normal/diffrent, over 3K rpms there is a high amount of vibration in the car as well. I usually pawn it off as the road however. Are there any examples/videos I can look into to see if this is normal operation? I have both a powertrain + aftermarket warranty.

If you have no vibration there's nothing to be done ; I will personally remouve the inner cv joint and inspect the inside , then repack it with grease and reinstall a new band ! Look a my Video give it the shake test ....lol

Does it get worse with higher speed? Mine also feels random at times and seem to be exaggerated by different types of surfaces. I can also feel it through the chassis of the car, not just the steering wheel.

However, one thing that stays constant is that the vibration frequency increases with speed.

Yes, it is worse at higher speeds. I certainly can feel a vibration through the chassis of the car. It is strange because the car is so solid at times, and at times I feel like I am driving my old Pontiac with the vibration, especially noticeable in the steering wheel. Its not enough where if someone drove my car would say "damn you have a problem", but being that I drive it everyday, I look for things like this.

I have the same symptoms. It's weird because at times it drives perfect.

I have found that on my wife's 09 that hard cornering accelerations bring out the symptoms more so that just normal driving. I'm pissed though, cause I complained about this while I was under the extended warranty and the dealer wasn't able to 100% reproduce my complaints (shocking right?). I mentioned it to the service writer last week during the latest maintenance stop and he seemed to be in the know now. I guess 2 years makes a difference.

Since your dealer has documented the your complaints over several visits, I do not see why they will not cover it. I would reach out to Acura to see if they will good will the repair.

I just had to deal with bad cv joints. Was getting a bit of a shake at around 60-80 mph when accelerating. It would only shake when the pedal was pressed between those speeds. Had to get them replaced.

Axle has been replaced and no more shimmy or vibration through the chassis.

This a good thread for future reference.

I'm currently at 101,800 miles, and my car is at Acura having the CV Joints replaced. although it seems more to me it's the half shaft bearing on the half shaft, anyhow HEre's how mine sounded:

That doesn't seem normal. Are you feeling anything while driving?
