My real world MPG 2011 TSX 4 Tech Auto

Finally after 4 months had our first semi-trip. 200 miles approx. Some of which was local/stop/go etc. but majority 95+% 60-70mph.
Anyway, average was 36 mpg... I'm very pleased with that. Up to now mostly local stop/go minimal driving at or above 50mph....average between 25-26 mpg.
Overall pleased with that especially with today's gas prices.

My recent mini-trip

A couple things. Only 1200 miles on car to date so not sure if it might improve more or not. Also, keep in mind no A/C during trip since outside temps 60-70. But hey, 36 mpg looks good to me. Then i see commercials of a car rated slightly less being driven by hampsters. Hmmmmmmm, think i'll stick with my TSX.

Good number.

However, was that displayed or calculated mpg? I have noticed that my displayed is off by 1.5 or more mpg and certainly seems to be farther off the higher it goes.

For example, I currently have ~500 miles on my tank and the display is 31.1 mpg. I am sure when I fill tonight it will be less than 30.

Of course, I still think this is good for a 60% highway split. I had it up to 33 but just couldn't drive that grandma-ish for a whole tank. LOL

That's calculated. I have a spreadsheet going in excel. I am documenting every fill up, price paid, etc. I get reimbursed for mileage, so I figured along with my mileage records, I would track the gas. The display is hit or miss, the spreadsheet never forgives.

If anything, my mileage has been going down since I got the car. It's probably because now I'm hitting it hard when I have to.

That's good to hear... I picked up my wagon last week Tuesday. Only put an additional 100 miles on it since we picked it up...

I'm coming from my 03 Double Cab Tacoma that averaged 17mpg...

I'd be happy to average 25mpg in the new car, but seeing others with high averages is comforting...

My displayed mpg is always better than what it actually is for me.
For example the MID will show that Im using 10.2L/100km (~23mpg) but if I run an actual calculation, it usually comes out to be about 11L/100km (~21.4mpg)

Anyhow, winter has passed, which means it will be easier on the mileage since the flow of traffic will be much better...or not since I will be driving more aggressively =/

I drove from DC to New Jersey last weekend and averaged about 31mpg at varying speeds up to 80mph. One thing to remember to consider is varying elevation of the terrain you're driving on. I never really thought about it too much in terms of gas mileage until I started looking at the approximate real-time mpg in my TSX. All hills are evil now!

I've had my 2009 TSX 6MT Base since June '09. Been tracking the mileage using Fuelly (www.fuelly.com). Now at over 20,000 miles on car and generally run 80/20 city/highway. Average so far since beginning according to fuelly stats is 25.9MPG.

Best MPG was 29.8 (Nov 2009 - I think I was doing a fair bit of this on the highway) and worst was 22.5 MPG (July 2009 - first fill up). Definitely see best mileage in fall and spring (when no A/C is on) and worst in Aug (hottest time in Dallas) and Jan-Feb (fluctuating winter conditions here)

This car is still a joy and thrill to drive. The great gas mileage is an added benefit for sure!

Real World MPG update

Was travelling and haven't had a chance to respond. My mpg in real world (mileage/gallons pumped) and the computerized MPG on dash are nearly identical. At most 1 or 2 TENTH'S of a mpg off, not 1 or 2 mpg off. My other car i agree, real world vs. computer on board can be off 1.5 mpg or so. But the 11 TSX (at least mine) has been very consistent since i bought.

I consistantly get 26-27 mpg. I do roughly 85/15 highway. I fill up approx every 7-8 days depending on my schedule. I'm coming from an 04 TL and got around 23 consistantly. Those extra 3-4 mpg help especially now with premium climbing to $4.

Mine was roughly 25.5mpg which best was 28.5.
And, the display number is about 1 or 2 mpg off vs. the actual one.

I do mostly highway (70-75), and local roads (20-40), and my mileage has been going up with every tank. I put in premium (93). I'm getting about 30mpg. Really happy with it!

glad you all are enjoying your tsx's. Have been on 3 cross country roadtrips in our 06 tsx. Also drive from NC to NJ and back every few weeks. Excellent gas mileage and very comfortable riding car. We have driven our tsx in 42 states.

My wagon has been getting over 30 mpg on long highway trips, lots of mountain passes here so I wouldn't be surprised to see 33 or 34 mpg on flat stretches.
