Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone else has replaced their serpentine (accessory) belt yet. I do not have the shop manual yet, and the auto part stores are telling me that I need a 69.5" belt (Its a dayco belt). When I put this belt on, it is clearly too long, the tensioner pulley is maxed out and the belt is still loose. Has anyone else seen this issue? Does anyone have the correct length of the belt? It seems like it needs to be a 68" or possibly less. I actually picked up the 69" belt that is supposedly for the 2008 TSX and it is also too long. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hey robpp. Thanks for the response. Looks like mostly all the popular auto parts sites are indicating that it is 69.5. I've went ahead and put my old belt back on for the time being. I am going to return the 68" tomorrow and pick up a 68" belt.

On another note, I am the 2nd owner of this TSX and am wondering if all my pulleys are the correct size (seems like it would not be ideal to have an incorrect pulley). It is a long shot that this is the case as I feel I would have found many more issues with a wrong pulley but I can't seem to explain it. If there is anyone out there with the shop manual, could you take a look at it and give me the diameters of all the pulleys and confirm the belt length?

Just go to An Acura dealer and buy a new belt. If it doesn't fit, then something else is going on. Don't blame the belt. And why would a first gen TSX belt fit (08)? That car has a power steering pump, an 09 doesn't.

Dealer price on the belt is $110. I called and asked for P/N and they didnt know the length.

08 belt also did not fit. It was also too long even thought it was a half inch shorter than what the 09 should be. Also my guess is that the power steering pump was removed but the pulley is still there (maybe, I base this on a rough diagram on the belt's packaging). I am beginning to believe it isn't the belt and that there is something else going on.

if you took off the old belt, why didn't you measure it, then find a new one of the same size

Fwiw online dealers its ~65 plus shipping. I would print one of those and go to local dealer. Mine addds a small "shipping fee" but gets me close enough that i buy it from t he local one.

Brought it in and measured against the 69" from the 2008 model. Was slightly longer and thought it could work. Also, a little disbelief that so many sites tell me 69.5 and it's too long.

I'd just have a shop do it if you're having a difficult time.

It's not difficult so much as it is concerning. To be told that my car needs a certain part by all auto parts stores and having it not fit in mine.

Good idea. He probably has aftermarket pulleys that affect the size.

This is what I suspect. After I measured it out, the old one looks to be ~68".

when returned back to stock for resale it probably wasnt worth the trouble or he had no OEMs. they do sell underdrive pulleys......see throwdown/


take the 68 to the stealer compare size when he brings it out.........then balk at cost and leave LOL /


at least you will know if 68 is oem.

This was my plan. They didn't have any belts in stock though.

Did I mention they wanted $650 to replace tensioner and belt? I think I sharted myself when I heard him say that price.

Had this done at the dealer, it was fast cheap and perfect fitment. In and out.

I would start keeping an eye on it after 40k. Looks at it every time you change your oil and inspect for cracks or any signs of excessive ware. Replace when these signs are seen.

My Acura dealer said in most cases they replace all belts at the 100k mile service unless they show wear beforehand.

Update: 68" fit like a glove. Still no explanation why a shorter one was required. I'll get around to measuring the pulleys but i suspect one had been replaced by one with a smaller diameter

I am having the same problem replacing the belt on my wifes 2009 Acura Tsx. I ordered the belt from Rock Auto, and it was too long just as mentioned above. According to Bando's website, there are two lengths of belts for this car...69.5 and 67.5 inches. The rockauto belts was around 70 inches. I am now going to get the 67.5 inch belt.

Same thing happened when I replaced it on my '04 TSX. Returned the aftermarket which was too big and bought OEM from Bernardi Parts and fit perfectly. Don't know why the aftermarket ones are off by that much.

If anyone needs an OE tensioner pulley, I yanked my new one off before I traded in the TSX. Bought new for $55 (-$15 know-a-guy discount) = $40. I'd do $15 shipped if anyone needs one.

I have the original belt on my 06-no cracks, tears, squeals from it.

That's not surprising. I changed the one on my 05 at 100K and something (+- $20 from Amazon, it fit fine), but only because it was getting old and I was bored. The old one still looks like new (still have it; can't bring myself to throw it away). My wife's 07 (206K miles) still has the OE belt on it, and it looks fine. There's no recommended service interval for this belt, only to inspect it for cracks occasionally after 100K miles. Oh, and be wary of a dealer who claims to "replaces all belts at 100K mile service" since there's only one belt.

Ran into this same issue when I went to have my belt replaced last week. Bs do recommends one belt that is too long. Have to reorder the shorter belt. The Dealer wanted $160 to replace the belt (labor and part) Indy shop wants $60 (labor and part).

This belt length issue seems to be one that is pretty much restricted to the 2nd gen car (with perhaps the usual exception or two). I can't recall reading any reports on the first gen forum of anyone having this problem (the replacement belt being too long or too short) with the 1st gen car.

Same issue up here in Canada. Aftermarket belt is too long. Was happy to see the correct size posted here. Dealer wants $150 Cdn. For factory belt.

I work at Honda and my coworker in the parts department told me the OEM belt (my price) is between $50-$60 from a nearby Acura dealer. I would recommend to everyone to replace it on their own, such a quick install.

I used Bando 7PK1715, they make a lot of oem belts and its cheap.

But any 7 rib 67.5" belt will work.

I would get the 67.5. But it could be either. My guess is the earlier builds used the smaller belt because its the same size as the Rsx.
