I've got the all season cargo mat. It is rubber and has 4 holes in it for the tie down hooks. I'm very pleased with it and really looks sharp in the car.

Thank you. Is it a perfect fit? Also is it hard to get to the bottom drawers/compartments with the all season mat in place?
The cargo liner covers the entire seat back, sides and floor. It has a fold out flap that covers the back bumper while you are loading or unloading. I had the same issues deciding between that and the cargo mat. I ended up getting the liner and (after about 2 years) am still pleased with my decision. Here are my thoughts:
Liner
Covers more area
Far easier to get to things below deck
The flap protects dogs paws from getting caught in latch
The flap protects the bumper
The flap keeps loose items from smacking into the rear door and falling out when you open the hatch.
Mat
Stiffer - slightly easier to remove and hose off.
More water resistant. The 4 holes for the tie downs have a slightly raised lip that contains fluids. The liner, being impregnated cloth, lets fluids run right off into the tie downs - but will you have a spill that will affect those areas?
Looks more conventional
I also bought the cargo container. It sits near the back door and has three compartments - one for the junk that one carries around and two for groceries, so any spills are contained in that.
If you have a dog, get the liner. If you frequently move stuff that leaves debris (mulch etc), get the liner. If you want something that looks nicer then get the tray. The liner, because it is cloth (well some sort of nylon) doesn't fit as "nicely" as the tray but I find it far more useful.
I have the tray and for my purposes, like it a lot. I carry lots of rough and sometimes dirty stuff on my Home Depot/Lowe's runs, also tools, ladders, golf clubs, kids' scooters & sports equipment, etc. so I like that nothing catches on it. It's a perfect fit, but obviously if you want to get the compartment below, you need to flip it up or take it out. All I have in the compartment are jumper cables, a Mag light, and a cross wrench anyway. Since it doesn't protect the back of the seats, I carry a sheet of tarp that I will throw over the seats if I need to drop them to stow something large.

I'm not a wagon owner, but I do have the WeatherTech tray for my sedan, which is similar to the OEM wagon tray. Great investment as it protected the carpeted area from an unexpected spill from groceries, and other debris that that comes with stuff you'd buy from a Home Depot/Lowes like Puppetmaster mentioned.
I also keep the "must have but rarely use tools" in the lower compartment so access to that area on a day-to-day basis is not an issue.
My seats don't need to go down, so that isn't an issue. Getting to the bottom drawers isn't a must.
I am not a pet owner, having kids is enough of trouble.
The wagon is used for Grocery/costco runs/lowes/home depot. My issue is, bag of onions=leaves crumbs on the raer carpet, that takes me forever to get out.

I love my cargo tray. It is very substantial and has a good lip so I don't ever worry about putting anything on it. It also makes the cargo area look more rugged/finished. I think the carpet underneath back there looks a little strange, so I am happy for the tray.

Think of a longer piece of material that folds out and over your back bumper. It has two elastic loops that attach to the two swing out attachment points in your cargo bay (on the level of the top of the taillights).Because it is attached to the liner at the bottom, and attached to those mounting points, it keeps stuff from rolling out. It also keeps wives/kids/"helpers" from scraping up the back bumper as they drag suitcases out of the back (I think it is only forum members that actually worry about dings on bumpers). See the installation instructions . They also have the cargo organizer which is also useful.

Absolutely. Had a leaky Box O Joe from Dunkin Donuts once, and miraculously all the spill was caught by one of my rear all-weather mats, and a leaky bottle of milk in the trunk, which swished around in the rear tray but somehow didn't touch any of the carpeted areas. Easy enough to take the mats/tray out for a good hose down after.
Brick dust however, is a pain in the neck to clean, even off these all-weather trays... good thing that was in the wife's MDX....

I thought onions were bad to clean. Why can't costco put them in a closed bag instead of a dumb netted bag?
In my Lexus hatch, coffeemate from coostco broke and spilled. BUt it spilled over other grocery instead of the car (since hatch area was so small had to stack grocery)
I have the OEM cargo mat -- looks good and it works for me. To protect the bumper, I added a 3rd party bumper protector. It complements the "rugged" look. In the photo, you might also spy a bumper bully. Count me in as an OCD forum member!
I agree, it's a pain. Every time my 100 lb Doberman jumps in the mat moves and I have to push it / slide it back in so I can close the hatch. Not easy with a big dog standing on it.

I was under the impression the OEM mat hooks into 4 things in the cargo area, so it wouldn't slide
Sorry to revive an old thread but I'm about to pick up a tsx wagon and I'm trying to figure out which cargo option is better. I too have a dog and would lean towards the liner but the tray looks great and will help with mud and dirt, or the occasional spill. This may seem like overkill, but has anyone tried both? Will the tray fit over the liner giving you the best of both options?
The full liner that covers the seatback and sides and has the little foldo out flap that goes over the bumper claims to be water resistant and washable. To me it's the better choice for dogs riding in the back.

I got the liner and have two dogs and couldn't be happier with my purchase. The liner IS waterproof and it covers more than the tray does, so hair doesn't get everywhere. All in all, I think its awesome. And the flap that folds down over the bumper is awesome.
