I just did mine this weekend. I had a bunch of leaves fall out also. I had to vacuum the slot there was so much in there.

Great pics on the diy. When I removed the covering to the filters I used a pair of wire cutters to snip the tabs. You don't need a moto-tool. The whole process took 20 min

The dealer took $125.00 off the price of the 30K service.

Amazing.

Hello all. Just purchased a used 2002 Acura TL-S and am brand new to this forum. Following the excellent directions in this thread I looked at my cabin air filter and found it to be original (car has 50K miles). Haven't removed it yet cause I need to buy a replacement first but I expect it will be a mess. Checked with Acura of Riverside, CA (where I bought the car) and they want 70 bucks to do the job. Not in this lifetime, when it looks like such an easy job to do myself. Thanks again for posting the excellent directions.

Got the filters today at Kragen for 18 bucks. Took all of 15 min. to do. The plastic is soft and cuts easlily with a pair of 5" diagonal cutters. Hardest part was getting the 2 screws that hold the glove box back in. Great directions posted in this thread. Thanks.

I was able to replace the filter without removing the glove box via the two bottom screws.

Just wiggle the black cover around. The plastic is rather flexible and can be pushed upward enough that with the other hand you can undo the upper clip and whaalaa...
Simple stuff like that irks me that someone would pay someone else to do it. Unless they are paying me :-)

Exclamation

THIS WONDERFUL FORUM WE GOT, REALLY NEEDS A SECTION IN IT, STRICKLY FOR DIY's and FAQ's. Thats the one thing that sucks on here. Acura Inspired atleast has a section called HOW TO's. Why cant we have a DIY section. It would be alot easier to go the the section with all of them instead of searching for an hour for just one. Anyone agree???? If a moderator is reading this, please, we need one. I bet everyone would appreciate it. Great DIY on the filters. Gona go take a look at mine now. Later.

I saw a few questions here as to whether the Dealer replaces the filters this way, ie by clipping out the access panel and re-installing it horizontally with screws. Yep! I had the service done 2 yrs ago. Didn't know back then that I could do it myself. I just looked behind my glove box and it looks EXACTLY as the finished picture in this DIY.

Outstanding information. Took my Ipaq 5555 and wireless internet out to the car and used the instructions out in the garage. Got the filters at Autozone (in stock) for $19.00 + tax. And the filters needed the replacement. Thanks again for the info.

Another thank you post for this DIY. I read this post at work this morning and then went home and did the filter change on my lunch break. My car has 113k on it and the filter hadn't been replaced yet. Needless to say it was nasty! I also washed off the white plastic filter holders because they had some mold and dirt on them. Part was in stock at my local Autozone for $14. Very easy and cheap DYI!

Hey,
I was reading this article at work and a co-worker wanted to know if she could follow the same procedures for a 02 Accord Coupe. I figure she could but does anyone know for sure?

You would think that these would be much more simple to change. I mean without taking off the Glove box. Still worth the effort to save $100.00. Someone at Acura must have heard about the Hepa Filters in Vacumn cleaners that cost $75.00 to replace and thought they would be able to rake us for over $100 to change the 10 dollar filter eh>

Those that have changed out the filters can really appreciate the fresher air.
This is a great DIY! I'll see if my JDM Saber will be set up the same way. I'll send photos if that's the case. I hope the filter numbers are the same for mine, because Autozone may have it for $19.99. If I go to my local Autobacs store (a big chain here for auto parts), it will set me back $50.00....For a friggin filter..... I'll keep you posted......

I have an 05' TL, removed the glove box, and the panel behind the gb looks nothing like the one in the first post of this thread and what others have described. Mine does not have slots to "cut out" to access the filter, it is solid with two flat-head bolts holding it in place.

I can't take a picture right now, but it appears to be one solid piece behind my glovebox, two of the plactic push-pin type do-dads holding it in at the top, and the two bolts straight ahead behind the glove box. I removed those 4 items and the unit does not want to come out, if I pull any harder I think I'll break something.

Why would mine be different?

Anyone know what I'm talking about or have any ideas?

WOW, what a difference, i just changed mine today and DAMN, a whole lot of crap fell out, bugs, dirt, rice, moths, dead body....both filters were BLACK with ZERO visability.

For my fellow Canadians.

Partsource: $40 (but none in stock, call ahead, takes a day to get there)
Canadian Tire $38, some in stock at different locations
OEM Acura: $40, always in stock

No difference in price so i ran down to Markham Acura and replaced them tonight. VERY EASY DIY, and makes a huge difference.

YAY! an A/C performance mod. LOL What's the part number for the filter? I'll go ahead and give this a try this week since I have the dremel with me for my foglight install.

I'm still a bit confused as to how to remove the two clips that prevent the glovebox from falling the whole way down...could someone take some different pics and maybe explain that part in a little more detail? Thanks.

If you just take a flathead screw driver (from the clip side in the glovebox) and get under it and pry up they will pop out

Try Honda too....I got both of mine from there for around $20 CDN. I know someone who works there so I'm sure he gave me a discount. He also mentioned that they are the same filter as the ones used in the Odyssey.
