So with all the recent theft of modded cars in my area (which is a nice area so wtf.) a buddy of mine told me to get one put on because his heavily modded swapped civic was stolen and stripped back to stock. Anyway I have no knowledge of what I need and the best place to connect it to
If someone could help me out I would greatly appricitate it

get one of those anti-theft locks that goes from the brake pedal to the floor
Pretty hard to drive with no brakes~

the battery powered saws available today will cut thru any device --those stop the honest thief though! Move right along to an easier score

If they really want your car, tow trucks work well and no one pays attention to an alarm on a car being towed!

remove any performance company stickers from the car, or other STEAL ME information online. That includes license plate in pics and detailed description of mods online,,
you can be tracked much easier than any of us really want to know

Lol this is true, I never had trouble with theft or break-ins in any of my neighborhoods until I moved into a more upscale one.

Had one in my last car. Went to an alarm shop and had them put it in - was pretty inexpensive. Mine was just a flat touch pad about the size of a stamp. It was on the bottom of the dash and to start the car, you had to touch it while you turned the key. If they really want it and look for it I suppose they would find it but it would stop most joy riders from a quick score.

But the larger point that 01tl4tl makes is still true - if they want your car they'll tow it. The best security system would be a cellular device buried deep inside the cabin somewhere that constantly reports the location of your car. As an added bonus it can receive a signal that will interrupt power to your ECU to stop them in their tracks.

As a bonus bonus I've always wanted to add a system that would dispense sleeping gas after shutting off the engine and locking the doors ..

Civics are easy as fuck to steal.

If you have a beat up key it practically becomes universal. I watched a friend use his EK key to unlock a DA, which another friend owned. It is also able to start other cars due to it not having the chip inside.

Anyways a killswitch is a poor theft deterrent, thieves already know how to find those.

Agreed, it's a better bet to just let them steal it and have a mechanism to track them down if they did. I imagine it would take most serious chop shops only a couple of hours to make pieces of your car if that's what they intended.

The immobilizer in the ECU does a pretty good job of preventing starts without the real key. Acura TL cars aren't stolen too often I imagine.

They might strip it, but even the engine is only worth like $200-$500, so not worth it.

the headlights used to be the big attraction to thieves, but with aftermarket kits under 100 bucks,
why take the risk = they can buy parts easier than stealing them!

put a kill switch on the immobilizer, or better on the Crank position sensor lead coming to the ECU. If its not reading its not starting. But like others said, if they really want it they will get it.
