Just bought a 99 Honda Inspire (RHD fromJapan)

Recently moved to the Cayman Islands and sold my 2001 TL. A lot of people here import cars from Japan. I found a 99 Inspire on Japanesevehicles.com and I was instantly sold!

Getting it cleaned up at the dealership I work at (Chevrolet in Grand Cayman)

Center console w/Honda shifter knob

only 40,000 lm ! (25,000 miles)

Close up of the shift knob

OEM front Fogs

RHD (has power folding mirrors)

Rear

Found it has these weird glowing markers on the spoiler - never seen these before

close-up of the glowing marker on the spoiler

I already put blue l.e.d. markers in the doors and interior dome and map lights

Your Inspire looks like it is a 2009 not 1999, perfect shape.

And I also was amazed at the interior condition. Like I said only 40,000 km, oem mats that are perfect, no bulging door panels or dash trim curling up - I will RELIGIOUSLY use a sunvisor when Im not driving this car lol

I feel like my username has been referenced.

Terrible jokes aside, that is a beautful UA5. Never seen an RHD one before, pretty sweet.

So I'm about to start the Cluster L.E.D. conversion and some diy with the intake resonator this weekend. Still trying to figure out if anyone has ever seen this spoiler with the weird marker lenses???

optional spoiler in japan. there's been a couple people here in the states who have the same spoiler and changed out the color to red to keep a low profile from the cops.

there's also different versions of the spoiler with back up camera in either black and white or color.

Cool thanks for the info I was thinking blue to match the rest of the interior theme but red would probably be more low profile... the green right now is weird. Ill pull the spoiler off and see if I can access the bulb and swap it

Also Removed the Intake Resonator and found that the factory fogs use an H1 bulb in Japan. Any suggestions on L.E.D. bulb for upgrade or should I go HID?

Bumper off

Resonator removal in progress

hard to wiggle out so I pulled the airbox up top too

Thinking of running a homemade CAI with PVC piping... Anyone done that already? Its expensive to ship stuff to the island so I'm thinking of just building one

Cluster looks good. Pretty even light spread.

I need to pull my dash apart, got some bulbs out.

its easy ... I just bought a 10 pack of l.e.d. #74 bulbs off ebay (from a usa shipper to get it quicker)

My cluster bulbs aren't out, but I've got a few others in the dash. Seat heaters, sunroof, maybe another.

Got the Shiftgate out for modification

Black trim paint on a newly cut-out matte plastic (i used a partially see-thru plastic folder-helps diffuse the bright l.e.d. a little more)

finished product

wider shot

now cluster and shifter are done

painted the woodgrain trim while it was out

need to do something with the steering wheel and door panels now. Should I pull the door panels and drill out the door woodgrains or just tape them off and paint them in the car???

I would at least pull the door panels, mask them off & paint them outside the car.

Coming together nicely.

Only downside to that is that the A/C controls are imbedded in the NAV screen.
One option would possibly be to relocate the NAV to the factory stereo spot & put a double-din where the NAV was.

It's really not that bad. I had a RHD '98 EK SiR Hatch for a weekend a few years ago. It was harder to get back into my LHD than it was to adjust to the RHD.
