nope return and buy oem bulbs like the philips 85126. if you really like blue colour get the philips ultinon 6000k. i'm sure you heard this a lot but anything over 4300k and you are losing brightness. make sure you get D2R bulbs, they are designed for reflector housing in our 2nd gen TL.
also plz plz plz do a search on acurazine or at least on google about hid bulbs, just do a quick research. you'll see why 8000k bulbs or higher are a liability.

^I agree with these guys. The light output with 8000k is some shit 6000k is horrible at times but I love it too much to change it.

Different people have different reasons for buyin certain temps on bulbs. Personally I have 8000k and I like how it is. Although I've been thinking about buying 6000k cause I like the colors on the headlights which is why i got 8 in the first place. and it isn't so bad of a difference on the road for me. I think 10000k is a bit ridiculous though and think 8000k is where id draw the line. To each their own.

No, don't buy an OEM bulb. That's retarded. They sell for like 100 per bulb. Spending 200 dollars to replace your bulbs? No.
You should have gotten 6000k. You're going to have really blue headlights with 8000k, and you might get pulled over. Plus, it doesn't look as cool as you're probably thinking.

If you want both a 5000K for color and an OEM brightness of 3200 lumens, go with the Osram CBI (Cool Blue Intense). They make a D2R version also. Its around $200 a pair but I think it's worth since I did a retrofit and am using a D2S setup.
I personally wouldn't go higher than 6000k but that's my opinion. Good luck seeing in foul weather with 8000K.
Hid's in a halogen foglight housing will cause glare to other drivers.
Hopefully your D2R bulbs came with a glare shield so you're not blinding everyone on the road.

6 has more blue which lights up road lane markings and signs really well
5 has more white light to see objects on the road with
No debate about it- I can see way more with 5000k
hidextra says their bulbs are 3600 lumens which is nice and bright output, more than 3200 by other makers

I'd like to see the Hidextra light put out 3600 lumens then i'll believe it. Maybe with a 55 watt setup but thats a different topic.
In the D2R setup I would say 5000K is the way to go for light output and color.
A clear and clean lens will help with light output also.

4500k koito d2s with my rdx projectors:
the projector has blue-purple tint (rainbow effect) while the light is pure white on the ground. love it.
for the TL, here are the philips 4300k 85122 D2R lows along with 6000k fogs

10,000k i dumped that shit ASAP
8,000k much better output but still suffered from glare due to aftermarket crappy bulb
very bright 4300k philips D2R and 6000k fogs, best combo

I guess I'll have to wait and see then...I've seen 8000k and it's a clean clear blue and has tons of output. The 10000k was wayyyyy to much. The 6000k was clean but it was missing the blue I was looking for. So yeah, 8000k is where I draw the line too....I have a 2003 TLS black with stock body kit. With the lights, it's gonna look clean! I'll post pics!!!

5 or 6000k would be as blue as id go. Headlights help you see the road and avoid things that could possibly be on the road. Why make things harder to see with 8000k+ bulbs. Those are awful and I'd almost put them in the "rice" category. White headlights w/ yellow fogs are the most effective combo for different weather/visibility conditions. Hence why this combo is the norm in JDM/EDM markets.

JMHO, but the blue light does not look "cool", it makes it look like you are trying too hard to "be cool". It does not help you see better, it makes you see worse, and puts out WAY more glare to oncoming drivers, some of which may be police cars...
By far the "coolest" thing is to be able to see where the f_ck you are going at night, especially in bad weather.

In my non-HID truck, I run 5000K headlights and 2500K fogs.
Puting 6000K bulbs in fog lights is totally contrary to the purpose of having fog lights in the first place.

There's also a big misconception with alot of those that uses the higher kelvin bulbs. They're after the blue/purple color flickering light effect they often see in their rearview mirrors from a quality hid based projector. Look at the first picture of post #19. On the side of the building on the right, look closely and you'll see the thin blue/purple line from the cutoff shield of the projectors. It's the blue/purple line on top of the actual light being emitted. If this is why anyone who orders the 8000K bulbs and higher kelvin colors are after, sorry but you'll never get those cutoffs from a reflector setup.

sooo yeah, i installed the 8000K on the headlights and the fog lights!...I actually think it looks great. i showed a few people and they also thought the same...ALTHOUGH, the fog lights are a slight bit bluer, but it don't bother me one bit....
One problem i had was it took about 4 hours (by myself) to take off the bumper etc...after all this, a month later one ballast went out and i called for a replacement and they made me cut off the original one, and send email for conformation. 3 days later it came in the mail and the actually sent me 2 new ballasts...
overall I'm happy with the 8000K, the shine the streets up blue and not to much blue..
One problem i had was it took about 4 hours (by myself) to take off the bumper etc...after all this, a month later one ballast went out and i called for a replacement and they made me cut off the original one, and send email for conformation. 3 days later it came in the mail and the actually sent me 2 new ballasts...
overall I'm happy with the 8000K, the shine the streets up blue and not to much blue..
