2002 Acura TL Type-S Intermittent Starting Issue

2002 Acura TL Type-S. 195K on the dash. Vehicle has new battery, and I replaced the main relay with a brand new one. My vehicle is cranking but not starting at certain times in the day. If it sits for a couple hours it does start but it's not a smooth start. Engine feels very rough on startup. However, if I turn it off and try to start it a few minutes later it just cranks and it takes about 30min-45min for the car to start again. I replaced the Main Relay after reading some forum posts but that did not fix the issue. Also, when it comes to the key/immobilizer system when key is in ignition and in on position key light comes on for 2 seconds then goes off, when key is turned to off position light flashes five times. From what I read on an Acura TSB this is normal operation as well.

If you guys have any advice I thank you in advance.

Have you done any fuel system cleaning ? Something like seafoam or berryman's would work.

This is on sale:

Well the car was sitting for about 6-8 months. Tank was about half-full when I bought it and drove it home. Once I finally used all that gas and filled the tank I added fuel treatment when I filled it up. Other than that no. Car has been nothing but a problem for about two weeks.

Ahhh the plot thickens...

You gotta tell us all the context when describing an issue! Were we supposed to deduce that somehow?!

Sounds like a fuel issue..

So you ran crud gas thru that should have had Seafoam added to get that nastiness out, then repeat seafoam thru a tank at 2 oz per gal of fuel.
Now you have to clear ECU system memory by removing clock fuse for 1 minute- on passenger end of dash or foot area
Add seafoam 1, 16 oz can to half tank of gas two times, or 2 cans to 1 full tank
Fuel cleaners must be used at MAX dose to cure your problems
Dont forget to clean TB throat air plate!

Probably ready for intake manifold removal for EGR system path and ports cleaning with a wire coat hanger and 3 cans of carb cleaner
That will make it do the strangest thing when its clogged.
You clean the TB while its off too, and the IACV idle air control, cars runs like new after egr service
NGK spark plugs needed by 100kmiles, before really...then every 60-75kmiles is smart

I have some plugs to install and I need to do the valve covers anyway, so I will be removing the intake, cleaning it and replacing all gaskets.

SOME plugs? please tell me you purchased the CORRECT NGK in plain or Iridium or iridium IX, ~8-10 dollars EACH
and nothing less is acceptable- no kidding
2 buck chuck spark plugs are not ok with the TLs' very high energy coil on plug ignition system
Wrong plugs will make things worse- and you have to do the plugs twice.... which is a hassle

I used NGK Platinum plugs. I'm not sure what you mean by plain spark plugs?, but nonetheless it did not fix any issues with my vehicle. Yesterday I added one can of Seafoam to the gas tank when I filled up. I also removed the aftermarket security system that was installed on the vehicle because I think that may of had a hand in causing starting issues. Today I just have to reconnect the black/white starter wire together and see how it goes.

Still no resolution to my starting issue, as of now the issue remains as this

- Car starts in the morning or after sitting for a couple hours.
- If I drive vehicle for a while (30 min or more) and cut it off and it sits for 15 min or more the car will just crank and not start. It may take up to 1 hour to get it started, unless I let the vehicle sit for a hour or so. Then it will fire right up.
- Pushing the pedal to the floor does nothing, it does not help the issue at all.

Is the fuel pump turning on for two seconds when the ignition switch is turned to the on position? Does it do this everytime you turn the key? Could have a bad fp.
