Ok guys, well I called Acura and they told me to kiss their ass on a free replacement. So looks like I am doing the tranny swap for sure. When I do the swap, I am take pictures and such to do a DIY, I know that would help many of us here. I want to post up pictures of what needs to be replaced from the TL tranny to the Accord tranny.

3rd and 4th pressure sensors, pictures of them on the TL tranny, remove those and put them on the Accord tranny. I would recommend buying new ones though just like Stephen said.

I forgot to ask, anyone one who has had a Oil Jet kit, I was told the it is not needed but what is done with the hose leading into the jet?

Also, how much fluid does the Accord AV6 Tranny take? Are you supposed to place transmission fluid in the convertor? Haven't messed with Auto trannys in a while!

I filled up with 3.5 quarts when I swapped mine in and then within the first 1000 miles did the 3x3 drain and fill

The torque converter holds majority so unless you crack that open you should only have to fill it with about 3-3.5. That's also the reason why you do the 3x3 within the first 1k miles

Ah ok, so you put 3 to 3.5 quarts in the convertor, how much in the Trans?

NO!! I didn't crack open the converter so it already had fluid in it. I only put fluid into the drain whole which is the case and that was about 3.5 quarts. You don't have to put fluid in the torque converter unless you crack it open

All depends on how much fluid is drained out of the trans when you get it. Odds are its the same as the TL trans.

Oh and for those of you doing this because your trans died. DONT reuse your torque converter.

Did you honestly expect them to give you a free one when its 2 years past the extended warranty?

Do you need all those gaskets and rings? I already dropped my tl at the shop to get my swap, is this going to be a problem without getting new ones?

You don't need them but it's recommended. If you don't get them there easy to swap later if they leak

Damn Stephen my bad, misunderstood what you said, I got it, so no fluid in the converter and add 3.5 quarts to the trans and check it. Got it and thanks.

Yea it should be similar, and that is right, use the converter from the Accord guys!

Well I gave it a shot, 2 of my friends fought Acura and got it replaced but of course, they failed again so I'm not even going to fight it anymore, I'm just going to change it and avoid the headache you know.

Like Stephen said, the gasket for the oil warmer and filter is needed, the rest is to be just sure, they are only a couple more bucks.

I have a trans in sight right now, they want 1150$ And it has 79k on it, 199 day warranty, a 33 day full refund guaranty.

It says best offer, I'm going to offer 800$ and see what's up, shipping is 75$, what you guys think?

It's the best deal I found, the rest of the trannies have 97k and they want 800$ with 125$ for shipping, only 30 day warranty. To high in miles for me.

I went with one with less miles because it should last longer and it's not going to be beat up for higher amounts of miles. Also of the person never changed te fluid they were still within te recommended interval

Good good point on the service interval, didn't think about that, the coupe seemed to take a hard hit in the front, I dont think it effected the tranny, here are some pics

That's a pretty bad impact, I'm not sure how much damage that can do to the transmission. Te one I got had a rear impact

checking in here:

just got my car back lastnight from a buddy who did 06 accord swap for me. car shifts like a dream and WOW talk about firm steering now. sort of feels like there's no power steering at times though but for people doing this swap, be prepared for VERY FIRM steering.

I only really notice the stiff power steering the most when I'm trying to turn the wheel without the car moving. I like it better because you get a tighter feel and it feels sportier

yeah when not moving i'm like damnit but while driving it feels real nice haha i just hope nothing gets damaged long term. i already have enough stuff to replace right now

i noticed though that it feels like overdrive isn't kicking in for me. at 70mph i'm at about 2200-2300 rpm, i don't rememeber if this is where it used to rev at while traveling at that speed. otherwise shifting is like a dream

It's at higher rpms because 4th and 5th gear are shorter gears with that transmission I have a few thousand miles on min and 666worker has well over 10,000 miles with no problems. Also there are other people using different transmissions that deleted it with over 50,000 miles.

If you have a tl p there is a powersteerig speed sensor that connects to the transmission. There is not a spot for it on the new transmission so you have to grab a hose to loop the rack. Since there is no more sensor the steering is tighter especially while trying to turn the wheel without the car moving. If you have a type s you don't have to worry about it

I am interested in the Accord transmission for sure, I will be needing one soon it looks like. Does the triptronic still work if you do the swap? Also does anyone have a shop in the Tri-State area that has done the job? I am so busy with school and work that I may not have the time to do it. This couldn't have happened at a worse time for me financially wise.
That same thing happened to me last Wednesday night when my tranny completely failed. I found someone near Bloomsburg PA which is going to do the swap for me as I do not have an engine lift. Otherwise, I'd probably try to tackle it myself. I'm looking for an accord transmission this weekend. I hope you fare better!

Just make sure they swap everything that's listed and there's no way your doing it without a hoist becuase it just weighs to much

Only 300$ because a friend helped me do it. The only place that was willing to do it for me wanted 1000$
