Allow me to introduce myself soon to be new owner with a bunch of questions!

Hey guys,

My name is Aaron and I will soon be the owner of a 2008 NBP Tech with ebony interior. I recently started new car shopping and had a budget of $60K but nothing excited me, I test drove the 2012 TL SH-AWD/Advance and it was fun to drive the interior was alright but the outside didn't do it for me, I thought about a Lexus GS 350 F sport but even that wasn't exciting me, I currently own a 2008 4runner Limited and it got to the point I just said well I guess I'll buy a 12' 4Runner even though I wasn't in love with them.

So about 3 days ago I saw a beautiful black RL out in front of a dealership and decided to take a look at it, it was an 05 with 110K miles I had no intention of buying one like that but it gave me a basis to start and WOW I was in love instantly I don't get the comments at all about the 05-08 being bland, the NBP just looked so clean and elegant to me and the interior was better than anything I've ever sat in including a friends M5! and I loved the sunshade and all the neat features it had.

So yesterday I went to CarMax and had them locate an 08 RL NBP that has only 24K miles from me, there bringing it in from San Diego which sucks because now begins the waiting game, they said 21 days maybe 15 if it goes quickly, but sorry for the long winded post but below I have several questions I was hoping to get answered, I understand some might be hard to answer but any help is appreciated.

1.) 2 things I really loved that the 12 TL has that the RL doesn't is the hard drive nav with great resolution and the full IPOD integration with the USB cable, so I was wondering if theres anyway to change the nav in the RL from DVD based to HD so it could have that same beautiful screen? and would it be possible to have a USB aux input installed to integrate with my Iphone, like I said my original budget was $60K and now that I'm going CPO I have the cash to really make this car my own so open to any suggestions.

2.) Last but not least I think an A-Spec kit would complete this car but All I am finding so far is the A-Spec suspension components, are the 18" rims and body kit still out there? and do the A-spec rims look good with the NBP RL? I understand they're chrome just hoping they're not too blingy!

Anyways thanks for the help and I look forward to driving my new to me RL very soon!

Congrats on being a soon to be owner. Great choice on the color as well.

1. I dont know if you can update the resolution at least not that I'm aware of. For the ipod integration read up on this link:
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=498327&highlight=ipod+integration
2. You can still buy the A-SPEC wheels brand new but they're a little pricey. I suggest you find yourself a used set. The A-SPEC kit can be purchased new by piecing items together. There are still vendors selling them. You can still get the A-SPEC suspension from Ebay or other Acura Vendors. I don't think the 18in wheels are too blingy at all. Heres a pix of my car for reference.

I would email or call Tim @ Acura of Peoria. Hes also a vendor on here. I had him order me a couple of things and priced all of the parts you are looking for (oem a-spec wheels and a-spec full kit w/ rear spoiler). By far the best service and prices (he matched others) and after talking with other vendor dealers hes the only person I'll use

I don't think the higher resolution screen has anything to do with the hard drive. The 4th gen TL just has the latest and greatest tech in it. I've never seen the screen in the 09+ RL so I don't know if it has a higher res screen or not. We had a 2012 TL loaner car not long ago and I was overly impressed with the screen resolution and overall menus and connectivity options on the tech package.

The RL's looks are very understated. Some might call it bland but they probably think the same about an S-CLass, 7-Series, A8, LS460, etc. All of these cars have classy and timeless exterior styling.

I do have a set of 18" A-Spec wheels with nearly brand new tires for sale BTW.

Like BDoggPrelude said the resolution has nothing to do with the hard drive based navigation system. The new RL just has a better resolution screen. As far as iPod/iPhone/iPad integration goes I just installed a unit today, took me less than an hour and I just started pulling away the trunk liner with a screwdriver. The unit cost me about $130 so I think that is definitely within your budget. I also have full steering wheel control and you can switch between album, artist, song. This unit also has a RCA auxiliary jack and iOS direct control so you can play things like Pandora. Here is a picture I took a couple minutes ago.

I'm sure that is dependent upon which kit you but, but the USA Spec one is connected completely in the trunk, they give you a 15 foot harness though so you can put the unit wherever you want.

Matt, which ipod integration unit did you use? USA SPEC PA-15 ACUxL?

Off topic but L, where did you get those Quad Exhaust Tips from? They look good. Did you just cut the stock tip off and put these on, no sound difference right?

Thanks.

This is confusing. I have read many posts describing plugging it in behind the radio. I guess I would not be confused if mine came with instructions. I still have not received a straight answer. Was this unit supposed to come with instructions? Mine had no paperwork at all in the box.

I've seen those posts too and they are confusing but those are from a long time ago and I think new units have been created. Give me some time and I can post the instruction manual for it tomorrow

Why wont you read your thread you started, Shahram, and use the online resources?

http://www.usaspec.com/userfiles/edi...uxl_manual.pdf

Page 9 says use the XM unit in the trunk. I'm not upset, but I hate that we try to help people to see they ignore it.

Sorry man, I read both, but posted here when I boned my post by calling it Aspec instead of USAspec. I guess there are so few new topics daily that we read almost everything. Thanks guys.

Still wow, I went and bought all these bulbs and stuff for the HVAC so I could do them all at once, and I won't even have to go into the dash. If it's all in the trunk, the hardest part will be routing the Ipod cable. I wonder why so many pics and videos for theUSAspec show and talk about the dash.

In any case, the seller is going to exchange me for another one he will confirm comes with all paperwork. He sent me a return label today.
