I-004: Now you can play music using Bluetooth!

Burning Brakes
the install should be very simple, about 2 minutes. simply unplug the correct harness (should be obvious) from the XM unit in the trunk and plug the new one in and off you go.

Im getting ALOT of "bleed through" XM 1 channel music/commercial with my Grom installed Bluetooth unit. I went through the process of removing the stereo unit to install the it. It works, but is Very buggy and the XM channel can be heard a little in the background while playing my music from my iPhone. Actually a lot.
Thinking of getting this unit and installing it in the trunk. Anyone have install pics? Also, how clear is the sound and how dependable is the connectivity? The Grom is pretty bad even with the latest patch (and after pulling the stereo twice!) and connectivity is hit and mostly miss.

The USA Spec unit works great with no interference. Mine is attached to my wire harness from the older non-Bluetooth unit (USA Spec pa-15 Acux) model and I also connect a usb flush mount charger to my center console like the 2009 model.

You can use the "Aux" option to play iPod and the USB is for charging only.

this is nice! thanks for letting us know about this option. this is way better than tearing out the center console to install.

just installed mine the other day. works like a charm! once installed it takes about 30 seconds to pair your phone then just play your music through XM1.
install is pretty simple. open the cover for the spare in the trunk. pull straight up on the plastic cover that's over the trunk latch. peel back the trunk liner on the driver side. you'll see the silver XM module behind the quarter panel. just plug in the USA Spec and put your trunk back together!

USA Spec, Now no more XM...
So I recently installed the USA Spec bluetooth adapter seen here:
and it works great for audio through bluetooth...however, I no longer have an XM channel. Both channels 1 and 2 are bluetooth inputs. I contacted the seller and received no reply.
All the dip switches are correct per the instructions.
Anyone know of a fix or experience this on their own RL?

I'm merging this thread into the first thread about this device. At least two other members have it installed, so hopefully they can chime in.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Definitely something wrong with your unit, as I still have XM along with the bluetooth.
Also I do not believe you have to use the included microphone for calls. You can still use the Acura Handsfree Link. I can verify this tomorrow.

definitely was a bad unit. Ordered another one and the problem resolved..although the bluetooth reception is now quite weak..ugh.
On the upside, all the features have been unlocked with the XM. Love the 1-6 button shortcuts. And, on the mic topic, there are a couple options. If you install the included mic, you can always switch your phone to the car's built in speaker. (Just note that sometimes the phone doesnt connect, and also that the included mic differs between sellers. The first one was terrible, but the second one is almost as good as Acura's.)
Or, you can skip the mic installation. But, with this option, you will need to always manually switch to Acura's system or speaker. I do not believe your phone will know that you only want the adapter's bluetooth connection for streaming, and not calls.

Anyone with the old usaspec where the iPhone connector is for the iphone 4, used an adapter converter to iphone6 that actually works for audio and charging?
Used a few that works for a short time then becomes junk

Apple's 8 pin to 30 pin adapter uses proprietary hardware and software to convert the audio signal. The 30 pin has an analog line out that doesn't need decoding. The 8 pin has a bidirectional, differential data bus that has to be decoded and converted to analog via a DAC. I don't believe any third party vendors have a solution for that. I have Apple's cable adapter and it works as expected. They also sell an adapter without cable for $10 cheaper I believe.

I got my USA Spec today - paid 165 on ebay.. Im in so happy I finally have this, install time took 2 minutes, for me I have my rear camera wired into the XM unit so I thought the USA spec would interfere and im happy to say it doesn't - music quality is awesome, I used an FM transmitter and it was good but nothing like usa spec

This thing is a dream. Connects immediately - every time, clean sound and easy install.
Even after the latest update and version, My GROM installed unit (that I yanked the front stereo unit out for) NEVER connected - unless I manually connected through the Bluetooth settings in my phone, had TONS of bleed through from the XM channel and of course, was a pain in the ass to install.
Thanks USA Spec!

So im going to finally try and have this installed along with my JL 12 and amp from my old legend...
My question is, where are people having this interface mounted in our cars?
Before anyone mentions it, i tried ordering the kb2 face plate from inside the armrest but apparently they are discontinued or.... "on back order"
just wanted to know if there's a preferred location in terms of convenience and cleanliness.
Thx in advance.
i had posted this in the wrong thread but after reading this im not sure the one i have has been described here (correct me if im wrong)
What exactly needs to go in the trunk?

The whole unit is designed to go in the trunk at the XM module. If you want the USB or Aux functions, you will need to run a USB or 3.5mm cable from the trunk to the cabin.

Wow thanks for clearing that up. I thought the ones that need to be in the trunk were the ipod versions. I was thinking i needed to dissasemble my console and behind the headunit. So all im doing is pulling back the trunk liner and plug and play?

Great timing! My BT45-ACU unit is arriving today by USPS. I've been waiting for the mailman all day, but he usually arrives around 4pm. I'll photograph the install if i get it in no problem. Other users seem to say it's simple though.
