just did mine yesterday, but managed to knick the driver side console with the dremel tool twice. luckily that whole part is only $40 from the dealer, but even easier, I'm just gonna have my interior guy use leather filler putty and paint it (small little areas anyway, not worth the trouble of replacing that whole part of the console).

a few tips (that may have been covered already):

1. finger nail clippers work just fine to trim the tabs around the heated seat bezel.
2. i think it would be possible to just order the 09 driver side trim instead of cutting the 05 down (to fit the 09 cigarette lighter), only about $40
3. you cannot use the cigarette lighter harness clip, I just pulled the pins out of the clip and used those. if you try and reuse the black clip, the lighter wont open/close. you'll also need to bend the tab that connects the white wire down a little.

Here's a photo of the damage. just shoulda been more careful, but its a 5 minute $40 fix so I'm not too worried about it. if it doesnt look as good as new after the repair, I'll just buy the trim piece for an 09

What would the problem be with simply installing a wood dash kit for an '05? I'm trying to figure out the benefit of using something for an '09.

Color match with what? The Acura wood shift knob which doesn't match the factory wood trim on the dash and the doors? The wood trim kit I bought for my 1999 TL at least matched the wood shift knob.

the wood kits are pieces of plastic that stick on top of your existing console. so they have an edge to them and you can see the original console underneath certain parts. it may be "good enough" but I wanted everything to be perfect.

also, i did get the leather repaired where i fudged it up, good as new.

I did not think this was "fake" wood from 09-12 models... ummm maybe I am reconsidering this install and will stop at wood wheel and wood knob
