F-007: DIY : How to replace your door panel Armrest Leather Cover

Has anyone replaced their door panel leather armrest? My driver side is a little bubbly and id like to replace it.
Ive done the center console armrest but I havent seen any DIYs on the door panels and I see a kit on ebay for what I need.

I searched online for you bro when you first posted it but as you probably found out, an RL DIY for this isn't on there... Maybe try a different model, a honda DIY, etc. and you could extrapolate, and....... be the first to post that progress and a DIY for others.

Take the plunge, how hard can a leather arm be? At least you know it's not an electrical or mechanical thing u're messing with.

Its usually as simple as a couple screws hidden behind the door latch and usually in or very close to armrest. Saw a thread on this but no DIY and dealer replaced it for him under good will.

I have shop manual at home if you would like me to scan it in and send I can do that for ya. I see parts are still available but at $87/ea seems a bit pricey.

So I did this Sunday/Monday and let me say it is time consuming to do so.

To take off the door panel unscrew where the silver panel is by the tweeter and unscrew the door handle screw, than begin to seperate the panel from the door itself also by unclipping the 2 clips by the tweeter. Once taken off the arm rest panel is screwed in with about 8-10 screws and also the screws underneath the window controls (3) once everything is seperate you can take the arm rest leather off and spray a fair amount of spray adhesive to the replacement leather and panel get it back on and reverse everything and good to go.

I had an issue because I left the screws at work so I had to drive to work at 1130pm on sunday night in which I needed gas and went to my gas station but couldnt open the gas tank because I had no door panel.. had to drive back home assemble the panel clips back and get gas and drive to work to get the screws.. what a pain

overall very happy with the result Ill post a picture later.

I'm actually doing my driver's side right now. When I do my passenger side, I'll video tape it so you guys can see how it's done. In short

1. Remove door panel

2. Remove about 20 screws on the door panel in order to remove the door handle

3. Rip off the bubbly leather

4. Spray adhesive

5. Put on new one

Will have a video in about 2 days.
