Bubbles in glovebox leather

I searched for related topic but cam out empty handed. oo7spy I know u might have a salution as always (reps). I notice little bubbles or blisters on the glove box. Could this be a result of hot weather messing up the lether or is this a common problem..... All advise and impute are welcome.

Assuming you are confusing the armrest with the glove box and because its be nice to noobs day:

Padding on center console armrest is flat

Center Console Wear

Center arm rest re-wrapped in leather, anyone else want em?

No I'm not confusing the glove box with the armrest! It's the leather or vinyl on the upper portion of the glove box door. It's like when a person gets burned and the skin bubbles up.. That's y I assume it's caused by heat

Ok, well excuse my assumption... but isnt the glove box foam backed plastic with felt inside?

Certainly has not been reported as a common problem. I would think the dash would blister first if it was heat from sun. So, perhaps something hot got brushed up against the glove box.

Heavy, am I just especially unobservant today, or does changing out funny avatars take up most of your time? ;.)

I have the same bubbles on the glovebox edge. Also on the drivers door arm rest. I just had my center console covers redone (easy and looks great).

Not sure how to fix the glove box bubbles other than to inject adhesive into them and use manual preassure until the glue holds?

I would think the glove box could be re-wrapped too, but it would be tougher to match that material.

The glovebox is probably covered in some type of vinyl. If you scratch/scrape it, then you will see little bubbles/blisters. I did this on my TL when I was using a flat screwdriver to remove a panel. It's just wear and tear. Remember it's a used car.

Good call Honda... My question is how to repair it and what material would match.

Don't look at it, or buy a new glove box.

The problem with but a new glove box is the issue with the lock mechanism. I wouldn't be able to open the glove box with my key. This was my initial option and I even found a used one for $225 from a local junkyard.

The lock mechanism should be removable. The 2G Legend had two screws on the inside of the door.

Interesting that this would come up as my girl friend just brought it to my attention yesterday. The top right edge of the glove box door is blistered. I can't believe that I didn't notice it before!

Well that's different from what I described. The vinyl is separating from the glove box. Looks like a factory defect and not from wear and tear. Not sure if Acura would cover this, but no harm in asking.

Yeah, that's messed up. Where did you buy the car and is it under warranty?

Its gunna be tough to prove it was a defect rather than someone just spilling something on it.

But it never hurts to ask.

Being patient and keeping an eye on salvage auctions on eBay and craigslist could save you a few pennies.

Try asking a car upholstery place. They may be able to fix it or you could have it covered in matching real leather.

I think we mentioned that in another thread, honda, you could wrap over the current stuff but I dont think you can remove the current stuff because it feels like a foam underneath.

My only concern in that case would be weather it will open and close freely with the extra added material.

exactly, its a pretty tight fit on the sides (thats what she said) so it may be tough for the upholsterer

I have the same problem with glove box

It's literally melting. Open blisters and bubbles. What really disturbs me is that I replaced my glove box in 2009 for exactly this same reason. It seems like a manufacturers defect to me

I cant seem to figure out how to post my picture(s)

That photo showed the exact location and appearance of the problem I also reported. The only difference was the color of my interior, (Black). That seems odd that the bubbles are in the same spot. Factory defect?

what do you guys think about calling acura (honda corp) at the same time to report the same defect? they cant argue against that if different people from around the country are having the same issue.
