Why doesn't Acura do this?
We have discussed before that part of the reason why the RL doesn't sell well is because generally, customers don't perceive Acura as a "true" luxury brand and therefore are unwilling to pay over a certain base price for an Acura. Advertising could help this situation, but not just typical television advertising. To raise the perception of the Acura brand, which will make customers more willing to spend more money on upscale Acura cars, I think they should make moves similar to this one:

I hate to say it, but Infiniti is on the rise.

I thought Acura had done something like this. I could swear I've seen something similar in the past. I'll search around this evening and find it.

But Infiniti is actually sponsoring a design event. People who attend this event might start to associate the Infiniti brand with elegant industrial design. As Acura bothered to sponsor anything other than golf tournaments?

then there will be no more future RLs

There are about 10 Tier 1 tournaments held worldwide, the only bigger tournaments being the majors, such as the Wimbledon, or the US Open, where Belgian Justine Henin took home a cool $2.4M for winning the women's singles title.
Acura also sponsors many other obscure sports, such as car racing (e.g., American Le Mans Series), sailing events, bike races, etc., but golf is probably the most popular event. Your point is well taken, that who remembers all these events, except maybe golf?

What would be nice is to see the RL in some T.V. spots. Its a nice car and for that matter, how about putting any Acura in a T.V. spot. Lexus this and Lexus that...they are on every friggin show..
It would be nice to see Touge's RL on an NYC based T.V. show...that car is top notch !
