NYC Autoshow - 2016 Tucson and Sorento take-aways

I think the Tuscon and Sorento are nice vehicles. Here is my flawed problem with buying one: I can get the cheapest Tuscon for $19K or I can get the loaded version for $35K. If I get the loaded version, I feel like I've paid an additional $16K on a vehicle that was engineered to sell for $19K.

How isn't that true about every car?
you can buy a base 370z for 25k. You can get a loaded Nismo for 20k more.
I assure you the base and Nismo are two very different beasts.
I can give you 100 more examples, if you'd like. I'd say the sorento was designed at the midway point, with features either added or removed, as opposed to being a base with a ton of features added.
Either way, what does it matter? I highly suggest you take a look at one up close... You might change your opinion!

Okay, and I am sure you are dissatisfied. Just backing up my statement. If I had had another car with a tranny problem, I may have been of the same opinion. I don't think Kia or Hyundai's are a bad choice. As I said earlier, my good friend just got a 2017 Sportage. Very nice car. I still would buy a CRV first, if I was buying in that class and as long as I can afford it, the RDX.
what does the RDX have, that the competition doesn't?

Not just that, the interior in the tucson specifically is not the same in the base and the top model. The base model has harder plastics whereas the top model has a really nice interior with good use of soft touch materials and exclusive features. The Sorento's interior is WAY higher quality than that of the MDX. Like it's not even close. Like Adam was saying, the Sorento was built to a higher price point and then decontented in order to lower the price. Even at 48k for the SXL it is a an absolute bargain when compared to other 3 row crossovers. The fact the sorento has features not even available on the MDX is embarrassing.
