Just When You Think You've Heard It All
Local dealer charges an "anti freeze adjustment fee" of $35 as part of the delivery process. His explanation: "The dealer retains that for the labor cost to perform the check."
Anyone ever heard that one?

Never heard of "extra dealer profit" masquerading as "anti freeze adjustment fee". It's one of those deals where I inform the dealer of the "I am not getting screwed" fee subtraction...

Tell them that you charge a $100 "joint movement fee" to sign any paperwork.

Not quite as bad as $499 for mandatory Nitro-Fill (which a Honda dealer tried to pawn on me, once...); however, pretty sleazy. They'd be better off tacking it onto the 'paperwork processing fee'....sheeeeesh.

And this is when you politely tell the dealership to go screw themselves. The dealer gets paid by the manufacturer to prep the vehicle. This is worth a letter to the State Attorney General's office of Consumer Affairs.

You got to figure their lawyers have been over this and approved. Unless, of course, they've never been called on it.

I think the intention is to call their bluff and waive the fees rather than fight it out with lawyers. Even if one person decides to take them to court, it will be too much of a bad publicity for them and they will be the eventual losers even if the court sides with them.

in reality all prep and delivery fees are built into the price of the car. Dealers like to play the discount the car by the deliver/prep fee and then add it back in as a delivery/prep fee on said paper work....gives the illusion of the car being cheaper...
btw ALL cars are vacuum filled at the factory with antifreeze as it allows them to verify no leaks and you get the proper fill each and every time.
