Lightbulb Hi guys , I am having this weird noise from back . When you hard brake and vehicle c

Hi guys ,

I am having this weird noise from back . When you hard brake and vehicle comes to complete stop then you hear a clunking/Thumping noise from the rear . It occurs whenever you hard break and their is a jerk .
Took it to dealer 2 times and they say its common and normal and this problem exist with Acura . I test drove another 2014 RDX acura and the same noise can be heard in that vehicle as well . so i guess its a common problem.

I have driven several other brand vehicles but never heard this kind of noise in any other vehicles . Its strange that such a brand like acura have this kind of problem in vehicles. Try hard breaking /Give a jerk 2-3 times or come to a hard stop from 100 km/hr ..You can easily hear a thump from back . In other brands its a hollow sound but here we can hear some metal sound . If most of people here have same problem we can ask Acura to fix it for our model

Whats your though on this guys..any help appreciated . Please also let us know if you dont have this problem

Does it thump while on rough roads? It is known issue in cold weather for RDX. I had my shocks replaced by Acura for similar issue. There is a TSB for noisy rear shocks. Don't know if that applies to you or not.

No there is not a problem while driving . Only when braking and coming to stop .The TSB does not apply in this case becasue according to TSB that sound is heard while driving

Got both front and rear roters replaced under warranty but no luck . Acura says they cant do anything about noise now ..It simply exists with ACURA RDX

Are the rear wheels hopping slightly during this extreme braking or is the ABS engaging at all? Those could both cause the noise. Why are you braking so hard in the first place lol.

Hi MTD ...its not extreme braking ...just a hard press brake...like a bit more then normal brake.....ABS is not there...If you have to stop your car while going on 100 sometimes you brake hard.....like instead of stopping distance of 100 m distance ...now your stopping distance is 85m...I have a habit of not going to0 soft on brake
