OK. Probably not what you were thinkinking. But one of the reasons I love the RDX is the engine noise. To remessintant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31JgMAHVeg0#t=51.926381

Glad you got a kick out of the link. I come from an era of muscle cars and the old saying "no replacement for the old displacement." In my younger years it was V-8 or nothing. Then came the V-6 but back then they were a POS unless highly modified. Anything I-4 was the biggest turn off for the longest time until I got my 2008 RDX. I loved my GEN1 RDX with the turbo I-4. Absolute blast to drive. Now I have the 2016 with the V-6 279 H.P. and, hence, the engine sounds so muscle car like again, my reason for initiating this post.

The Acura sedans sound much better. The SUVs have a plastic resonance sound IMO.

Plastic sound? Have no idea what you're talking about. The RDX 279 H.P. under throttle is freaking awesome sounding.

If you think the RDX sounds good, go and take out either a older MDX with the 3.7l or a newer MDX with the 3.5l. I had a few 2016 RDX loaners and they sounded alright, but for some reason the 2016 MDX loaner sounded like a beast compared to it and my old POS 3.7l MDX sounded amazing. But in all cases, MUCH better than the crap sounding engine in the 1G RDX (I had one too).

Wow. My screen name may indicate 1G RDX but I currently have a 2G 2016 RDX Advance. In any case, the first 1G turbo actually did sound pretty freaking awesome, but, what I was trying to get across is the 2G (especially 2016+) RDX engine sounds, reminiscences a muscle car engine. Plastic sounding? GMAB.

You are confusing me? At what point did I say it was plastic sounding? I'll stand by my opinion that the 1G sounds like crap, zero exhaust sound at all (well no growl that is). I don't have a whole lot of experience with the 2G RDX (i.e not on a day to day basis) but I was actually agreeing with you that it sounds better than the 1G and did not agree with the plastic sound because I drove a 3G mdx and it sounded awesome.

I agree, I like the sound of the 2G and also my 1G sounds great too. In a car like this, I am not really after sound unless I mash on the gas. I was hesitant to go with the aftermarket ATLP exhaust on my 1G, until I was assured it was nearly as quiet as stock. I have an S2000 that even stock is enough to make me appreciate my other car being as quiet as possible.

I'm glad you like the way the RDX sounds. Let's leave it at that.

Dude, this is an Acura forum. Specifically an RDX forum for a bunch of guys to discuss trivial first-world things like Acura engine sounds. There ain't much to talk about here, for sh-t sake. away.
